Fairyland

This is not a story of life and death. Nor one of grim horror. It is not a story filled with forbidden arcane magic or vile. It is a story where you are the hero, and where everything is possible. Even the most mundane is extraordinary. So, where does it begin?

Like any story: at the beginning, once upon a time…

It is time to leave the real world behind and return to the world of your childhood: Fairyland. A land where anything is possible and your imagination is your guide.

From tiny smug black cats to little green dragons, and even yourself now is the time for you to tell your story and be the hero you want to be.

Richard Iorio (Colonial Gothic and Shadow, Sword & Spell) presents a game perfect for the whole family. Using simple mechanics, and allowing you to be anything you want, Fairyland stress one thing: imagination.

So are you ready to visit the landscapes of your imagination?

Hey! I got this game several years ago. Sorry to say just now "found" it in my game files. In the introduction I found the following excerpt. I thought you might want to know. "No, it is a game of adventure, mystery, and heroic deeds, one in which you." I am guessing you were wanting to tell the players what they'd be doing, but didn't finish the thought.

I have been entirely unable to find anything about how this plays or runs. There is no info about which system it uses, what kind o dice, if it's level based or skill based, etc. That is what's stopping me from buying it.

I'm currently preparing to run a Fairyland game. I am confident to say I really love this book. It's easy to read and to build a campaign around. I'm calling my campaigns using this system as the "Fables of Lestrid," which is the world my main games are in. This way my players can experience the folklore/myths of my homebrew world. This also will flush out my world more.

I will do an actual review after I actually run a couple games. I just want people that come to this page to see somebody recommending this. It is definitely worth the money, I can say that much. It's refreshing to have such a positive outlooking game.

Thank you Jarrod. If you think the game is positive that means I have done my job., I wanted this book to be "different" in many ways. I am very happy I made an impact on you.

I really wish that the purchaser that rated this as a 3 out of 5 wrote an actual review. I'm curious about what the score is signifying. Without an actual explanation, it seems very unhelpful...

Is it a GM-less game, for the whole family?

No, you need a Gamemaster, or a Storyteller.

100k? Is that price intended or an accident?

It's a crowdfunded game with a sticker price meant to be out of reach of anyone who didn't back the game. Once backers get their discounted copies, that price tag will be reduced to what the publisher intends to book to cost.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
