Kongor grabs the demon from behind around the thorax with his left arm, squeezes until he feels chest muscles severally strain, and with the other forearm wraps around the demons neck squeezing hard.

The demon struggles several seconds until it goes limp, unconscious

This is a minimalist martial art grappling attack system. It can be used with the Minimalist Martial Arts Strikes and/or Minimalist Descriptive Combat system to help specify the types of unarmed combat grappling.

One-page, easy, d6 system, no hitpoint, skill-based, and that might be able to be used with several core systems.

It uses standard d6 dice.

It is small, only this cover page and one page system.

It can however be expanded by using the 12x12 descriptive Crushing Critical chart

It is uses a small amount of words to describe the type of unarmed grappling, if the unarmed grappling hits an enemy, the target location of the hit, sometimes direction of attack, and the intensity of the damage to the specific body area. Critical blows that result in death is soon or instant death are also included for vital body parts.

This uses up to six rolls of 1d6.

  1. Roll once to see if you hit.
  2. Pick or roll the grappling attack type.
  3. Roll for target location of hit.
  4. If throwing, roll for throwing attack.
  5. Some attacks roll for direction.
  6. Roll for intensity of damage.
There is no rule for when a character dies besides 'instant death' and 'death is soon'. This focuses on the descriptive nature of combat using a few but meaninful words.
Either creating your own or interpreting a current systems is based on interpreting a few adjectives. Specific examples of the adjectives are not listed.
  • This takes into account skill using the words for proficiency of unskilled, basic skilled, skilled, or master skilled.
  • It has 6 types of grappling attacks: lock, leg sweep, take down, throwing, twist limb, and choke.
  • It uses 3 unarmed grappling damage modifiers are based on the skill levels: unskilled, basic skill, skilled, or master skilled.
  • It uses 4 types of armor that damage must surpass: no armor, light, medium, and heavy armor [or grappling skill defense].
  • It has three types of grappling damage: crushing, asphyxia, and muscle, tendon, ligament, joint, & bone (MTLJB). All 3 have 6 damage descriptions increasing in damage intensity.

Descriptive Combat Series

Remnant RPG Tools, All-in-One

Remnant RPG Tools, All-in-onethis remnant RPG tools book has tools to help have more descriptive violent combat. One strike kills and limb severence are possible with this tool—yet it's less deadly than the d6 version. Because of this, this book is for more mature gamers. This also brings together a revised and slightly expanded d12 combat system—similar to the d6 minimalist system—three descriptive combat critical tables, minimalist skills, minimalist elemental effects, minimalist: fear, disgust, & madness, and minimalist: ghosts, angels, & demons. Remnant 1d12 is more appropriate for deadly yet descriptive roleplaying games. An average character has a 4.17% chance of instantly death if attacked. It may be higher or lower depending on who or what is attacking you.

Minimalist descriptive combat is designed for quick and deadly combat, with descriptive tables for melee, martial arts, and gun fighting rather than numerical which rely on numbers to interpret die rolls. It is designed for expendable character type deadly games such as army or large group battles such as wargames or miniature games. An average character has a 8.33% chance to die instantly if attacked. It may be higher or lower depending on who is attacking you.

The slicing, crushing, and piercing criticals are deadly, but less deadly than the minimalist descriptive combat. It is designed for more traditional RPG game systems. These tables are used in the Remnant RPG Tools 1d12 system.

Both systems deal with wound descriptions such as flesh, bone, organ, and limb.

Both systems are for more mature fiction game players.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
