Unfortunately DTRPG is no longer supporting print books like Bone Marshes. I DO plan to launch a print run of better quality in the near future; follow my website for updates.

I just bought a physical copy of the book, but I have only one person to play with. Can this module be played one GM and one PC?? If so what needs to be tweaked, thanks a lot!

Hey Gaspar!

You can definitely play Bone Marshes as a duet campaign. I recommend toning down some of the enemy stats, or giving the player 2-3 NPCs to journey and fight alongside them.

I hope you both enjoy it!

Nice, thanks. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind.
1- How does the "adventure pack" works. I take 5 slots from my inventory and then replace one slot with one object from the "Adventure pack item" list? One at a time? Or can I pick 5 items from the list and fill the 5 slots from the "adventure pack"? When do I do this? I guess I can't take from the pack an ad-hoc item when facing a specific situation right? Like taking a pot when I need to cook something.
2- How do I deal with the Spire map (same question as Questing Beast :P) How do I climb and generally read the map given.
Is there a different channel to contact you? (If you don't mind of course).
Thanks a lot for your time and wonderful work. Take care.

Regarding leveling up, Bone Marshes says "When you level up, roll a number of D8s equal to your new level and keep the highest: this is your new maximum HP. (If none of your rolls are higher than your current HP, your maximum HP increases by 1 instead.)" Do I read it correctly that in case a PCs HP is 8, then they can only increase their hp +1 per level?

Hey Miklos,

Sorry for the confusion! You are to re-roll the number of dice EVERY level. So it might look like this:

Level 1: 8HP
Level 2: (You roll two 8-sided dice, and get a total of 6. Since that is less than current, HP gets +1) 9HP
Level 3: (You roll three 8-sided dice and get a total of 14. Your new HP is 14)
Level 4: (You roll four 8-sided dice and get a total of 12. Since that is less than current, HP gets +1) 15 HP

And so on. USUALLY you increase your HP by a decent amount, but the +1 rule is to make sure there is a minimum increase every level.

I bought the PDF (and I wish I had bought the print copy). The PDF makes mention of things on the overleaf(s), and I do not have those in the PDF. Any chance I can get electronic copies of whatever is on there?

Hey Tom!

We updated the PDF in January of 2020, and were able to combine a lot of the handouts INTO the book.

Everything you need can be found on this page: https://technicalgrimoire.com/bone-marshes

If you have the old PDF (before 2020) then you can find all the old handouts here: https://technicalgrimoire.com/files/BoneMarshes_Handouts.pdf

Ah, OK. The version I have from DTRPG says "Autumn 2019" on the first page -- I assume that's the latest update?

And if I am reading the handouts correctly, you level up by earning enough coins equal to 300 x level, i.e., 2nd level means you have to earn 600 coins?

Thanks, Tom

Leveling up is described on page 16 of the "Autumn 2019 Revision" PDF.

It's one of the handouts we were able to include in the book itself.

Understood. The handout says 300 x level, as well on p.8 of the book under "Optional Upgrades," but on p. 16 it's 200 x level, just as an FYI

Man, do I love this product -- going to run it for a group of high schoolers at our gaming club (I'm an English teacher). They've played nothing but 5e, and have asked me to run something "old school" for them -- Knave and this fit the bill perfectly. Thank you!

Thanks Tom! I'm glad you like it. Knave sounds perfect for that group!

Yeah, it was kind of a mess before, haha. You have the new version, so you don't need those old handouts at all; just the character sheet download from the website here: https://technicalgrimoire.com/bone-marshes

Eventually I'll just remove the old handouts complete, but some people still have the old PDF floating around.

yup! 300xcurrent level to level up.

So to go from level 3 to level 4 it costs 900 coins

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
