Vehicle Design Guide

Selected Option:

Rafe watched the shell from his tank’s 120mm main gun hit the enemy grav tank on the rear quarter facing, punching through the thin armour and sending it spiraling into the side of the closest hill where it exploded into a large fireball. He fancied he heard the tiny shattered pieces patter off the front glacis of his turret.

“Next position Jessika, before they pick on us”

“Aye Skipper”

As his tank swung out of its hide and disappeared into the piled up rubble of the small town, Rafe smiled at the stupidity of an enemy thinking they could mount a big energy gun onto an armoured vehicle and still not provide sufficient armour to protect it. High tech fools.

So you need a vehicle and cannot find the right one? Does the vehicle you have lack for speed or a big gun?

With the Vehicle Design Guide you can simply design your own with your specifications to suit your setting and campaign.

The VDG allows you to design pretty much any vehicle type for any role you can think of. From massive sea going battleships to fast grav vehicles perfect for fast jaunts around the new world your player’s battered trader has arrived to explore.

Included in the VDG are multiple chassis types, weapon types, armour rules and all manner of internal and external options for any design. Further, a new streamlined vehicle combat system is provided. Finally there are over fifty completed vehicles to use in any adventure and for any setting.

Including with this product are a number of form fillable PDF forms, that you can use for your own creations. They cover all the chassis in the book.

Vehicle Design Guide has a serious flaw with ranges in Page 19, Vehicle Mounted Weapon Ranges, Table: Weapon range bands, Very Long is missing, Very Distant and Extreme are the same and Continental is to short, I came to this conclusion my Looking up the ranges in Cepheus Engine Science Fiction Role Playing Game Core Rules and Looked up the correct ranges for the weapons in page 167 Table: Personal Combat Range Bands to get the correct Ranges for this Guide...

Also in this Vehicle Design Guide: Page 47, Heavy Jet Table performance, TL 9-11 Lists speed as 100 km/hr, while the rest of the table is higher in speed than this TL, To get the right speed: GO to Page45 and look upLight Jet, Table: Performance and see TL 9-11 the Light Jet lists 1000 km/hr

All in all I like your book and keep up the fine work!!

Question on the PDF download: 2 files that look like they are probably the same content, but vastly different sizes - is there any reason to keep the larger one? They both have bookmarks, and are searchable, and appear to have the same art.

Well, if you like design guides, you might like this one. I cannot say that I got my money's worth, but there are no refunds for downloads. They use an indefinite volume called "space" for all of their calculations, which means that you are never sure how large something is unless converted to dTons. However, since they have a Greek Trireme taking up more dTons than a 38-gun frigate, something is clearly wrong with what they are doing. I would not say much for any of their historical vehicles, nor for their historical weapons effects. I found myself asking whether or not they bothered to do any research at all for their historical stuff? The answer that I kept getting was no, no research.

Since dTons is volume, not mass (though 1 dTon=5 metric tons), could it be that a Greek trireme may take up more volume than a 38-gun frigate in some way?

Have you ever looked up the dimensions of a Greek Trireme compared to a 36 gun Frigate? The Trireme is shorter, has much less draft, and has much less above water volume than a trireme. It also has less beam. The only way you can increase the volume of the trireme is to include the oars being out, but if you do that you have to include the rigging of the Frigate. Go take a look at a good book on the hisotry of warships.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
