Witch's Primer Promo Image

Witches have been in the world as long as magic flowed from the source, the magic they wield is old, ritualistic, and powerful. They don’t have to rely on gods, pacts, or untold years of study as their power comes from the gnosis of otherworldly beings who sought companionship and union with the witch. Those who bond with these beings start down the long path of becoming a witch.

Not all survive this path, the established magical orders of the world see witches as a threat to their dominion. With their Sacred Secrets, each witch has access to powerful knowledge that only they can use and is hidden to all others. Because of this, far too many witches have been hunted down, persecuted, and interrogated. Most, have only survived by hiding or pretending to be druids, warlocks, or wizards but with the turning of the age, a record number of new witches are coming into their power and refuse to be hunted in the dark. What is this Book A Witch’s Primer contains new game material and worldbuilding content for 5e.

In this fully searchable and bookmarked book, you’ll find the brand new Witch class with 14 archetypes, 5 archetypes for the standard classes, 3 new backgrounds, feats, equipment, 102 new spells, and advice on how to place witches into your world. This supplement is designed to work inside the system and to expand the options for Game Masters and players. Before using anything from this book Players should ask their GMs about using any material. GMs can also use the new material from this book for designing nonplayer characters. Use what you want but most importantly, enjoy! How to use this Book The main goal of this book is to help you make and customize your new witch, personalizing them, and expanding playable options for characters of any class. The information in this book is meant to help guide both players and GMs. All the material in this book is completely new and even if a GM does not want to allow a player to be a witch, all of the material works equally for expanding options for NPCs.

Also included are hand-drawn character sheets that are compatible with standard 5e play and with an additional sheet for the witch class. These come in both standard and form-fillable versions.

Prints are currently being looked over in anticipation of hardcopies.

This is AWESOME and I'm playing a Witch in my current group - so very cool! Can I ask I quick question? Where do I find out how many Curios I can make? My DM is sure I should have a limit.

On the class table, the column Curios is the absolute max number of curios you can make. This includes curios that others are attuned to.

I purchased this directly on Eva's website so DriveThru won't let review it here. That being said, I'm gonna do it anyway.

The passion and love that Eva, Nick, Anna, and the rest of the editing/art crew (who are all properly credited btw) brought to this project is apparent from cover to cover.
This class and all of the material in it is an incredibly interesting take on 5e mechanics and the idea of what it means to be a spellcaster in a fantasy world. Each of the 14 witch subclasses, 5 other subclasses, 3 backgrounds, and 100+ spells has unique flavor inspires ideas of not just how character can be, but how those characters shape the world around them. There's even a guide at the end of the book that outlines different play styles a witch can use and how to build different archetypes.

They then took things a step further and included 20+ pages of lore and details about different organizations to incorporate into your world. This includes religious orders and their corrupt leaders,...See more

Awesome, rich, and full of detail. I wish more folks put as much heart and soul into this as Eva did. Glad I kickstarted this as well. 5/5.

I’m not a publisher, but I can’t review this product for some reason. Perhaps it’s due to my having Kickstarted it and my reward was the product. At any rate, I would like to say that HIDDEN ODDITIES is a beautifully rich and appropriately bewitching sourcebook for your game. The Witch and its options are inventive, innovative, and lush with flavour and lore. The art is top-tier and the entirety of the layout is clear and beautiful.

I am so very happy to have had a hand in supporting the creation of this Great Work. ⚡️✨

Like Alex, I apparently cannot review this product as this is a publisher account so I'll leave some info here as well.

This is easily a 5/5 Stars product for me.

The layout of the book is exquisite. At the very beginning we get a massive index of all the things that can be found in the book, making it super easy to find everything.
Littered throughout the book are encoded messages in "witch script" that add little bits of flavor or interesting musings if you take the time to copy and paste them into any old text editor. I live for little touches like these.

The Witch class it'self is an interesting and fun new take on spellcasters and I cannot wait to roll up one of my own as a player or use the book to make some killer NPCs
The archetypes "Secrets of the Phoenix" and "Secrets of Prophecy" are both fun takes and extremely my jam. I knew instantly that I wanted to play a "Secrets of Prophecy" witch as soon as I started reading...See more

So, DriveThruRPG apparently doesn't let me do reviews because this is a publisher account, but I'll leave my review here for anyone interested:

5/5 Stars. Great book, fantastic addition to your 5e game. The new Witch class has great flavour and mechanics, and is a unique and fun spell-casting class. The 14 Sacred Secrets (Witch archetypes) give a lot of different to customise the class. Even for non-Witch characters, the spells, feats, backgrounds, and additional archetypes make this book really useful and interesting.

The spell selection is wonderful, with spells that are as varied as they are fun. This is easily my favourite spell supplement to 5e.

There's been great attention payed to balance, and I would have no problem adding this material to a game I am running.

The lore section provides factions and NPC leaders that make for great character tie-ins or DM fronts.

So, in addition to all this great gaming material, you get high production...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
