The Dinosaur Protocol (SWAdE)

Selected Option:

65 million years have separated the ages of man and dinosaur. Until now.

“Some time in the 21st Century, something broke the world. No one knows for sure what happened. Solar flares, war, global warming, pollution and environmental collapse, or perhaps a combination of all of them. Perhaps it was something much stranger. All we know is that mankind fled the surface, retreating into vast underground shelters where they could wait out the centuries until the earth was habitable once more. But when we emerged from the darkness and prepared to retake our world, it was not as we remembered it. Something had happened to the world that once was. In the centuries without man, nature wound back the clock, returning the planet to an earlier, cleaner, more primal age. An age of dinosaurs.

Now humanity must choose – do we fight to reclaim our past, or do we make peace with the present and embrace a simpler future? Armed with the skills and technologies of our ancestors, do we struggle to recreate former glories, or will we use the second chance we have been given to avoid the mistakes of the past? Will human nature even give us the choice? Will we exterminate the reborn dinosaurs, enslave them, or something else? What will be our Dinosaur Protocol?” - From the journals of Archivist Roebuck

Was the community rules problem ever fixed? I’m interested in buying this, but even though it got great stars these comments here are not very encouraging. Is this ready for play, or is it flawed?

I am a huge fan of Savage worlds and have invested a lot in it. I’d like to add this to my collection if it’s ready to go.

Is there an errata document? The Community rules seem incomplete. There's a column for points to divide among a community's four attributes, but the attributes aren't explained anywhere. There's also a "Mission Die" to roll, but no explanation of what that means.

That's embarrassing. I don't know how that got missed, but you're absolutely right (and the first person since 2019 to point it out!). Unfortunately that section was written by Jonathan, who sadly passed away recently, and we're still trying to access his files. I have no doubt that he completed the community rules. Once we have these we'll be able to issue an errata with the full text.
Please accept my sincere apolgies for the omission.

In the book we can read: "Forbidden Edges: The following edges are not allowed in the world of The Dinosaur Protocol... ...No Power Edges except for Gadgeteer and Mentalist, and Champion".

I'm very confused... So as I understand this we can't use any Power edges EXCEPT: Gadgeteer Mentalist, and Champion. Ok, first of all, Champion is not a Power edge but a Weird edge. Second, Champion is very fantasy-like and we can use it? I think the rules are written wrong or I just don't understand something here...

Sounds an awful like Xenozoic Tales by Mark Schultz.

It was an inspiration. Oddly enough, I've only ever read one issue of the comic and I've never seen an episode of the cartoon series, so the resemblance stops at the "elevator pitch" level.

I am a huge fan of Mark Shultz's work. This was inspired by that body of work. However, except for a few nods to Mark in The Dinosaur Protocol, the resemblance stops at the elevator pitch. It also has some influence by other sources, such as The Marrow Project, but beyond a nod or two to that also, there is no resemblance.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
