Master the Art of War!

Now on its fifth edition, the world’s oldest roleplaying game presents a number of exciting options to allow players to customize their characters. It seems like just about every class in the game gives players a major choice that can heavily alter the way their character operates, such as a barbarian’s primal path, a paladin’s oath, or a warlock’s pact. While the core rules give every class a handful of these options to choose from, and additional supplements from Wizards of the Coast have provided a few more here and there, there’s no doubt that there’s plenty of room for more of these options to provide you with exciting new approaches to each class, which can give you a some new tricks, allow you to represent flavorful ideas and concepts that had no support previously, or completely turn the class’s basic role on its head. The Advanced Options series is here to give you those new options.

This installment focuses on providing new options for fighter characters, in the form of six new martial archetypes. Become a bodyguard and gain the ability to block attacks made against your allies. Blend divine magic and martial prowess to as a holy knight. Become an inspired knight and draw inspiration from legends of heroic deeds, pushing yourself and your allies to achieve feats otherwise beyond your means. Specialize in combating spellcasters and combating magic as a spell slayer. This book contains all of these archetypes, and more.

Take your game up to the next level with our advanced options for fifth edition today!

A few tweaks and other suggestions:

The Bodyguard: I think you should add to the level 3 ability so that as long as at least one ally is within 5 feet of you, enemies stepping within 5 feet of that ally provoke opportunity attacks from you.

The Inspired Knight: The level 7 ability needs to make clear whether adding the die bonus removes the standing +1 to hit and damage (thereby possibly negating the hit in the first place). The level 15 ability needs to make clear whether the bonus applies to all attacks made with the extra action, because a level 15 fighter could make 3 attacks as part of the Attack action, and at level 20, this increases to 4 attacks!

As a side note, you may want to let the inspiration die level up, perhaps around level 10-12, increasing the bonus to a d6.

The Swashbuckler: First, there's already an 'official' roguish archetype with this name, which could confuse matters. Second, the level 7 ability feels very clumsy and unreliable in play....See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
