This book is the ultimate toolkit for Traveller campaigns, allowing referees and Travellers to pick and choose the best additions for their adventures and explore the galaxy in greater detail than before. From alternate Traveller creation systems and training to gas giant operations and starports, from the effects of gravity and diseases to animal encounters on alien worlds and the use of transponders, there is a wealth of new rules-based material for all Traveller campaigns, ready to be unleashed on every new world, every starship, and every group of Travellers.

Does this book have rules for designing new Alien Races? That and ship creation rules are the only thing I'm interested in this book for.

The are basic rules for creating alien animals (for encounters) on the core book, and this is expanded in the Companion, but these are not ‘playable' Aliens. The Ship Creation rules are entirely in High Guard. There are some smatterings of Races in other books, including in the Companion (Bwaps). However, the major alien races books are coming up soon in a three book series - which will cover all the iconic spacefaring alien races in detail - and it may be a good idea to have some rules for generating new alien races in them. There are also a bunch of new alien races (about a dozen, really weird ones) to be found in the Behind the Claw sourcebook.

Personally, I’m waiting for a Robots book too.

The core book specifies "Other universes will detail the aliens that can be Travellers and the Traveller Companion adds more than can be used in any universe." So you're saying that they lied and they don't have race creation rules in the book they said they would? That seems wrong and I don't see why I should buy the book, since that's the reason I wanted it.

Some of these new options were included as core 1E, other cotent seem to be errata. While I buy a lot of Mongoose content, I do shy away from reprints and errata that a publisher makes you pay for. Sorry, saving my $ for a Tinath sequel :)

Core book promised Alien races would be in this book, its the only reason I wanted this book. So how long until there are more playable aliens? In the mean time are the 1e books Races compatible enough to use.

The colonial upbringing career has a graduation benefit that missing some words on page 30: "Gain any two other skills listed above at level or
increase one skill already possessed by one level." Should that say " level 1 or increase..." maybe?

I assume it's level 1. Gain any two other skills listed above to level 1 or any (no matter where gained from) +1 level.

This is effectively the DMG for Traveller and its an amazing buy. I'm very disappointed by the character creation sections, which I was really hoping for a boost to. I was hoping to see extra additions to the existing character creation, such as rules for awards, medals, influence, fame, new mustering out benefits etc etc. I was also hoping to see more racial additions here as well, such as rules for playing some of the more pronounced races or even racial specific career paths for the existing paths. The two new careers are rather good.

Does it bring in 3d space?
Other scifi games have it all the way back to Space Opera

3-D Space was never a big push in Traveller, other than Traveller: 2300AD

Not difficult to make up a coordinate system, though it changes a lot of the feel of the game.

Actually, with the next edition of 2300AD just round the corner, I wonder if they make some approach towards this sort of thing, along with the use of vectors? That would be a cool development.

AMAZING! This book single-handedly solves 95% of the problems I've always had with Traveller, suddenly making it (optionally) a much more modern and playable game. Worth every penny! THANK YOU!

Overall I'm liking these options although there are some minor points... page 45 the last word is missing... pretty sure the intent for the last paragraph in the right-hand column is to insert the word "determined".

It's really not clear how disabling wounds should or would interface with the pit locations option are these supposed to be two different systems as optional plugins or how they combine because they seem to use different numbers and values and thresholds.
Similarly what is the intent with respect to using three characteristics.

I'm not trying to nitpick here but D&D 5e laid all these out pretty clearly and Traveller has been around for 40-something years I've been a referee since 1977 so why wasn't this clarified in this book that we've been waiting for months?

I thought the narrative rules were a good nod to things like The Cypher system, I've had players in the past complain that there was no way to affect the narrative other than taking...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
