Will this have a print-on-demand option here, once all text is finalized?

I heard Savage Worlds used to have a skirmish wargame rules set. Is that still the case? I want a kitchen sink setting where I can make my own units but can’t find one. If I can do “Rifts: the war/skirmish game” I’d be thrilled.... fantasy vs sci-fi vs supers vs etc...

They still do (for the previous version, at least). It's called "Showdown" and it's a free download on Pinnacle's website. But, if I remember correctly, they didn't give points values for all the options so making a completely balanced fight might be difficult. But it's a free download, so I'd give it a look.

Why there is no "Creating Worlds" section in the Game Master's Chapter ? There was one in the Deluxe Edition ?

A World Building supplement was among the unlocked bonuses during the Kickstarter. It will not be a part of the core rules, but you should be able to acquire it for a few bucks when it become available to backers

Agree that the "unlock" should have added the "Creating Worlds" section to this product instead of a separate document. I say that as a backer.

Do additional turns I get in quickness have to be right after my turn? Or should it be at the end of the round?

Why is "Double-Tap" an edge now? Especially a "seasoned" edge? I don't see how that makes sense, neither fluff- nor crunch-wise.

Since I only seem attracted to (and purchase) the least popular SW games and scenarios I doubt those will be updated to new versions so for now I will continue playing the ones I have.

All updates to Adventure Edition will be released here and are included with the purchase. Updates to companions (Fantasy companion, Sci-fi companion, etc) or settings are not included with this purchase, though they've said there will be some free conversion guides released when that stuff is updated.

Is there any word on an updated character sheet? I'd love to see one included in the pdf, along with a separate form fillable version.

what about the typos and erratas suggested in the forums? is this PDF corrected?
Customer avatar

This ist still not the finished PDF (I think that comes out at the end of next week), so there are still some typos. But in the week since the release of 1.0 it already worked in a ton of Errata and even made some Rule-Changes.

The goal is to find now all the errors so that the print is as error-free as possible and it seems that is working great so far.

So....I own a lot of stuff for Savage Worlds already...do I really need to get a new edition? How significant are the changes? I'm always a bit wary of new editions because I do not want to shill out money for stuff I already own...

There's some interesting changes in the new edition.
There are now core skills that everyone has, charisma is gone, edges have changed, some hindrances are clearer, you're now limited to 3 actions a turn but running is a free action, bennies can be spent on new things, the chase rules got a major overhaul... lots more that I can't remember!
But if you're not interested in buying a new edition you can wait for the conversion document to drop. They've said it'll be free but I have no idea when it will coming out.

Honestly in my opinion, if you like Savage Worlds, this is a buy you would most likely want, there is enough changes inside to warrant it. The Powers system got boosted, as well as many of the options Richard G mentioned. A lot of tweaks, I would imagine with the conversion document would have you going back and forth between both books.

I remember the original Savage Worlds being pretty sparse when it comes to noncombat/utility powers, especially for starting level characters. Has that been changed?
Customer avatar

The Number of Powers increased with every Edition. The Adventure Edition has at least double the amount of the Original and many of them non-combat based.

Also they increased the Duration of many of the non-combat Powers, so it makes them more useful and you can much more easily maintain them for longer.

I definitely wouldn't say double the amount of powers, that's not accurate. SWADE does increase many of the durations though, and has made some changes that will positively affect "utility" magic. In general though, if you want something more along the lines of DnD utility magic you will still need to hack it in yourself.

Sorry, my comparison was primarily the Original Edition (an Answer to Andrew's Question), which had only 24 Powers, while the new one has 54, so the increase is more than double. :)

But compared to the Deluxe Edition, the increase is only small (~51 vs 54 Powers)

Other than your existing core rulebook, nothing will get invalidated. I'm very excited for the changes.

While there's some major new features - new Chase rules and Quick Encounters rules, which can be applied to existing settings or even older version of rules - for the most part it's a tremendous amount of smaller Quality of Life changes.

The fundamentals have not changed at all, it's still Savage Worlds you know. Skills have seen some changes (among other changes, 5 common skills start at d4, 3 skills combined into Athletics, Common Knowledge is now a skill), Tricks and Tests of Will have been combined and made more versatile (any skill vs linked stat, as appropriate), multi-action simplified.

I had already applied some of the revealed QoL changes (mainly skills) to some SW Deluxe tutorial games I ran earlier this year.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
