The Hungry Vine, a d&d 5e compatible monster!

    Whether thrusting upward from decaying vegetation in a rainforest as a random encounter, or conjured up from corpse infested grave dirt by the powers of a corrupted druid, the Hungry Vine presents a party with a surprisingly wiley, 3 dimensionally opponent, to bring a battle mat encounter to life!

    Environment: The Vine enjoys damp, wet places where it can disguise itself in thick underbrush or beneath the rotting detritus of fallen leaves. They thrive in jungles, dungeons split by age old roots pressing between the stones, in graveyards where they feed on corpses and lurk in musty mausoleums, and sometimes set down roots outside prisons, hoping to feast on newly released inmates.

    Surprise: The Hungry Vine can burrow itself into loose or damp soil, emerging practically underfoot with it’s grasping vines and gaping maw. It preys on the lost, hermetic, or solo adventurer, but will strike larger groups if hungry enough.

Challenge Rating: meant for a party of 4th or 5th level characters, but with rules and options to increase or decrease encounter difficulty!
