Mythic Game Master Emulator Deck

Play your favorite role-playing games solo, or with a group of players without a Game Master, using only your imagination and the Mythic Game Master Emulator Deck to guide you!

Based on the DriveThru Platinum Selling Mythic Game Master Emulator ruleset, this deck of 120 cards replaces the dice and the books, giving you Mythic results directly. The Mythic Deck handles everything Mythic handles, including Fate Questions, Event Focus and Meaning, Scene Setups, and adds Action and Description answers.

The Mythic Game Master Emulator Deck gives you all the tools you need to run a GM-free game either with a group or solo, by yourself. Mythic works with any role-playing system, and also as a writing tool to give your imagination a boost.

The PDF download of this product contains a complete guide in how to use the deck, as well as all the cards you can print for yourself. The print version is the 120 card deck along with a tuck box. The PDF manual is free when ordered with the cards, so be sure to check the PDF + Cards option when ordering the print deck.

Do you have a time frame of when this deck will be updated for Version 2?

My guess would be about 3 months from now, however it's really difficult to say for sure. My next project is getting Mythic Magazine Compilation #4 out then the Deck is scheduled for after that.

I've bought the GME 2e book. Are these cards meant to be used in conjunction with the book, or as an alternative?

These cards are meant to be used as an alternative to the first edition of the GME. However, they can also be used in conjunction with either edition. The cards allow for an alternate way to answer Fate Questions, which you can use to replace the method in either 1e or 2e. It also performs other core functions, like testing Expected Scenes (which works the same in 2e as in 1e), generating Random Events (which is slightly different in 2e in that it has one more option, although you could still use the deck as an alternative), and Action and Description Meaning Tables.

Mythic is a very modular system, so you can use the deck with 2e if you find the convenience of the cards worth replacing certain systems in 2e. Which systems you choose to use the cards for, or to roll using the book, are up to you and are pretty much interchangeable.

Hey Tana, I ordered the "cards in tuckbox" option not realizing that the "Print and Play and Cards in Tuckbox" option included the guide. Any chance I can get the guide as well?

If selecting the first option “Print-and-Play PDF” does it still come with the instruction manual on how to use the cards?

If you purchase the physical version, there is no physical manual, just the option to print one that has half the content covered in SAMPLE watermarks :/ Its also locked and cant be printed. Seems like they should include these in a pdf for the physical purchasers. It says to choose physical+PDF option. That option doesn’t exist.

Otherwise they are amazing. Im currently trying to find a clean copy of the manual i paid for

Hi Josh, I'm sorry for the problems. The third option is Print-and-Play PDF + Card(s) in Tuckbox which should give you both, the physical cards and the pdf manual (as well as some other files).

Please contact me through email and I'll make sure you get the pdf material.

I'm glad you like the cards :)

Hi Alain, thank you for your kind words :) I don't currently have a deck for Variations 2 in development, although I could see one happening. Right now I'm focused on finishing Mythic Second Edition, but once that's done I'll be able to tackle doing more decks, which I really want to do.

Hi Guillermo. Yes, this works fine with DND 3.5, or just about any RPG. If you're already familiar with solo role-playing, the deck makes using the Mythic system easier and faster. If you haven't tried solo yet, it doesn't take long to get up to speed. After an adventure session or two you will start to get a feel for how it works.

thanks. Is there a difference between the Deck n the blue book

It was my intention to have the deck match the blue book as closely as possible, including getting close to the same kind of odds for the same circumstances. Probably the only significant difference is that the cards also contain the Description Event Meaning Table information found in later books. I think this makes the cards more complete.

Making an additional comment on the cards. I love them. They are a real big PITA when you get started because the "ask a question, flip cards for answer, interpret the response" isn't how we normally play our games. If anything, I'd say it is closer to brainstorming an adventure for you players, except you are the player and I guess you should try not to cheat, but like all solitaire games, nobody cares but you.

I fiddle with it every now and then, so my epic tale of the 1st level Paladin (now 2d, pushing third) and his Ranger henchman (either almost 2d or just 2d) have been keeping the tracks between the villages clear of threats, including a low level attempt by a big merchant guild to shut down the local village traders, will continue on when I have nothing else to do.

Is there a way to use these cards to ascertain the answer to competing ranks? I use Mythic RPG for my solo games and I keep both fate charts( Mythic RPG FC and Mythic Emulator FC). I would like to use these cards only but I dont see any indication that these can answer difficulty vs acting rack questions.

Hi Sumit. The cards are meant to be for the blue book emulation rules only.

I plan to write an article at some point in Mythic Magazine to address using the deck and the chartless Fate Check from Mythic Variations 2 with the Resisted Ranks rules for Mythic RPG. For what you're asking, it'll mostly boil down to comparing every 2 shifts in Rank difference (rounded up) between the Acting and Difficulty Ranks and using that as a modifier on the Odds chart with the deck, going up if the Acting Rank is higher and going down if it's lower.

So for instance, your Acting Rank of Exceptional in computer hacking versus a computer firewall of Above Average is 2 Ranks in difference, giving you a +1 shift in the Odds. Starting from Odds of 50/50 this would take you to Likely with the cards. So, you're turning the Acting Rank and Difficulty Rank difference into Odds with the cards, starting from 50/50 and not using the Chaos Factor.

I'm aware how fiddly that all sounds right now, I plan...See more

Do these come with individual image files so the cards can be used on VTTs or a deck drawing app (I use Custom Image Dice for Android)? I see you've done this for the Adventure Crafter deck, but there's no mention here.

Hi Matt, thanks for asking! Yes, there is a zip file included that contains individual card images for use in apps. This was added later after the initial publishing when people asked for it. I should add that to the product description.

I'm not sure if it's been asked before, but will the entire deck of cards fit into one large deckbox, or do you need two deckboxes to keep them in?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
