100 Oddities for a Chaotic Mutation

Welcome to 100 Oddities for a Chaotic Mutation, the 13th entry in Skirmisher Publishing’s series of “100 Oddities” titles!

There are actually a lot more than 100 mutations contained in this mini-sourcebook. Many of the entries in the d100 table include several sub-entries or sub-tables, increasing the variety of the table far beyond a single century of options, and we have included four ancillary tables that turn this mini-sourcebook into a complete system-neutral mutant generation package.

Oddities are intended to aid storyteller creativity, turning possibly bland areas or gaming episodes into something more, and the goal of this publication is to make things more fun and to take your imagination in directions it might not otherwise have gone. They fill in the corners of a bookshelf, a room, a level, a story or scenario, with all the sorts of things that add interest but take loads of time to come up with.

Volumes in this series include 100 Oddities for a Creepy Old House100 Oddities for a Graveyard100 Oddities for a Thieves’ Guild100 Oddities for a Wasteland100 Oddities for a Wizard’s Library100 Oddities for an Enchanted Forest100 Oddities for a Found Car, and 100 Oddities for a Wizard’s Tower

For those who want mutations like the 1982 version of The Thing, Rick and Morty, and Cronenberg's early body horror films, this is the cat's meow. Now I wish it had come out before the Bag of Beans supplement from Skirmisher (which I wrote) so I could have included a few references.

I have many products from Skirmisher and I love the D100 tables for random generation. I really encourage these products including this one. It is quality work!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
