QQ: Is the Ferrovore really supposed to be the same size as the nymph swarm? It seems odd that it's not larger than the child components.

Also, with the Ruin Drake what are the Aberrant Parasites supposed to do on pg. 15? As it stands, the sidebar talks all about how one can have a beneficial infestation, but never tells you any more than that. All the spaces for benefits are just full of what looks to be placeholder text.

Greetings Graham and thanks for reaching out! Thanks for grabbing up a copy of our first book!
The ferrovore that can be a familiar is an "adult" size. The swarm of nymphs are essentially many "baby" ferrovores all massed together. Unfortunately, Pathfinder doesn't have a size category for "smaller than fine" that I'm aware of.

In regards to the ruin drake, the sidebar is referring to an aberrant parasites rule at large. We have many other aberrant parasites the will be included in future Aberrant Codex books, and this is the first publication of the rules for them. The design was similar to diseases or poisons with changes for the topic. The actual details of the aberrant parasites that infest the ruin drake are in the first ability text for the ruin drake. The title of the ability "Infestation" is followed by the "Pox Aberrantia" aberrant parasite stack block which contains the benefits and other relevant data.

tldr; ferrovore...See more

I think there's a bit of a misunderstanding. I meant, is the adult Ferrovore supposed to be any larger? It seems weird that a single adult is the same size as even the those of the swarm and at that size it's about the size of a cockroach correct? I thought it was at least a little larger and wanted to make sure the Fine typing on the large was correct.

And so the Sidebar for the Ruin Drake as it currently stands is just an example for future material then huh?

Beyond that though very cool book. Happy to see some aberration options for players after all these years. Would love to see someone do more with these, maybe a xenomorph dog to go with the ones we already have as an animal companion or something!

I think I see what you mean Graham. The size of the adult ferrovore as fine is intended. The intended size of the adult was about the size of the average human fist (which is still fine by the rules) and the intended size of a given ferrovore nymph was fly sized (still fine by the rules). However, when describing your ferrovore you don't have to use the fist size or cockroach size, you can go anywhere in between and describe it as different phases of adulthood.

The sidebar is more a breakdown of what each line in the "Infestation" section of the stat block means. If you'd never seen an infestation statblock you might not know what certain things mean. We included it for clarity, but perhaps a clarifying statement of the purpose of the statblock could have been beneficial. We will look into some alternate wordings and see if something else brings more clarity. Thanks for the thoughts on that.

Also super glad you like to see aberration players options! We have a slew of products...See more

Yes yes very cool. Happy for some clarification on the size of the Ferrovore. My table's witch will be happy to know her familiar's size for comparison. That said, wouldn't fist size put it closer to Tiny like the Rat Familiar? The fist counts as a light weapon, which is Tiny for a medium creature (assuming the rules for size of light weapons from CRB). That feels more in tune with the size you're aiming for and creates a stats distinction between the adult and the nymphs.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
