Ascendant Destiny

Selected Option:

Black Friday special!

Do you want an RPG system that is very well balanced even when used for epic level campaigns? Ascendant Destiny is a classless RPG system that focues on game balance from beginning character all the way up to epic level demi-gods. Ascendant Destiny does this whist maintaining an elegant and fast core system for gameplay that doesn't get overly caught up in complex games mechanics.

Do you want and RPG system where you don't have to "level-up" to be excited about your character's progression? Ascendant Destiny is a skill-based RPG system with a strong fantasy feel where character progression constantly feels meaningful. Ascendant Destiny has a flexible approach for developing different skills, and includes distinct types of magic, fighting styles, and ways to influence and support others. Characters can then continue to develop these skills into significant and memorable powers in the late game as they ascend.

Do you want and RPG system were you can not only customize the rules regarding an individual character's talents, but also the rules of the game itself? With Ascendant Destiny you can create an infinite combination of unique skill-based characters with the optional extra of customizing their feats, skills and spells. Ascendant Destiny even has guidelines on how you can modify the rules of the game to suit your world, campaign or play-style.

Ascendant Destiny is an exciting highly flexible tabletop role playing game (RPG) system that focuses on players being able to build and develop any high fantasy character they want. Whether that character is an honourable holy warrior, a spell-flinging sorcerer or a fast-talking goblin trader, Ascendant Destiny has the tools to create and grow this character the way you want.

With 15 years of play-testing Ascendant Destiny was originally inspired as an amalgamation of any fantasy d20 system and most d10 systems, Ascendant Destiny has a high fantasy feel with fantasy races such as elves, dwarves and goblins, medieval combat and powerful magic. Despite this though Ascendant Destiny comes with no fixed setting and is designed to be used as a system for any fantasy RPG setting that you can dream of.

Similar to most d20 systems Ascendant Destiny has 6 primary attributes and uses polyhedral dice to determine the outcome of skill checks and combat rolls. Unlike d20 systems, Ascendant Destiny is skill-based rather than class-based, where characters can choose from 8 trained skills and 8 natural skills called abilities. Essentially players can play whatever they want by buying skills, feats, attributes and spells using experience!

Ascendant Destiny is an exciting, highly flexible tabletop roleplaying game that allows players to create their own high fantasy character, and play in the fantasy setting of their choice.

Does the system provide a guide to conversion from other systems, possibly from Hit Die? This seems like a really interesting system but I don't want to have to remake monsters from the ground up to use them.

Hi Louis,

I thought I replied to this comment months ago but the comment seems to have not been saved. The system does provide a guide to use when building encounters. This information is contained in chapter 13. Also in chapter 13 are many example monsters that you can use in your games. Modifying the stats on these monsters or adding abilities is fairly simple to do. Creating new monsters from scratch is also fairly simple. I usually use another creature as a template and build from that.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
