War of the Burning Sky 5E #2: The Indomitable Fire Forest of Innenotdar

Selected Option:

Witness the mighty and terrible face of war in a world of magic!

A critically acclaimed high fantasy adventure path for 5th Edition from veteran authors such as Ari Marmell (Heroes of Horror, Tome of Magic), Wolfgang Baur (Editor DUNGEON® Magazine 1992-1995), Wil Upchurch (Midnight®, Champions of Ruin) and Darrin Drader (Book of Exalted Deeds, Serpent Kingdoms).

Choose Wisely!

The journey between Gate Pass and distant Lyceum is dangerous; along the way lies a forest, that has burned for decades, where a dream monster holds sway. Before escaping the raging flames, the heroes become caught in a three-way conflict with a fiend, the fierce spirit of the forest itself, and a clan of longsuffering fey who possess a powerful weapon for the coming war. Can the heroes traverse the treacherous fire forest of Innenotdar?

Welcome to the second adventure in the War of the Burning Sky Campaign Saga. Throughout the course of the campaign saga, a party of heroes will become involved in an escalating war between mighty magical nations, and after many adventures, military battles, and mysterious intrigue, it will be up to them to decide who will emerge victorious and rule in the aftermath.

A 5E fantasy adventure for 4th-level characters.

This is feedback on the PDF, not the content. On my Mac Book Pro (10.13.6), when viewing this PDF (as well as #3 and the recent #4) in Finder, the title page is not displayed. For Adventure #1 I do see the title page. When I open #2, #3, and #4 in Preview, the title page is also not displayed. When I open #2, #3, and #4 in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC I do see the title page.

In Preview I have not notice any other oddities, though we're just starting Adventure #2 and I haven't gone through the PDF just yet.

To close the loop: Adventure #1, in preview, displays the title page.

Thanks for the feedback! Not having access to a Mac normally, my ability to analyze this scenario is limited. I wonder if Preview/Finder is having troubles with the PDF layers? In chapter 2 I added the ability to switch between a full-page title page for screen viewing and a reduced title page for printing. When I get a chance, I will check to see if flipping the order of the layers helps.

EDIT: Does the back cover show up in Preview? The PDF layers are in reversed order on the back cover with the screen layer coming first.

First, thanks for the quick reply.

Second, I'm happy to help test new PDFs if you're not able to do so easily.

Third, I can see all pages, expect the very first, when I page through the PDF using Preview.

Thanks, I will flip the PDF layers for the first page to fix that in Preview.

Any idea on when we will see a POD option?

My understanding is that it usually takes about 2 weeks. The Scouring of Gate Pass took 16 days. That includes the time for the proof copy to go to the publisher and get approved.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
