D20 Shakespeare: Macbeth

Written between 1606 and 1607, Macbeth is one of William Shakespeare’s greatest tragedies, rivaled only by Hamlet and King Lear. Set in the tumultuous and somewhat barbaric eleventh century of Scotland, the play tells the story of a heroic warrior, Macbeth, who is driven into a bloody series of murders and horror by his own unbridled ambition and the supernatural forces of darkness, manifested in the form of fatal prophecies. However, as one sees his actions become increasingly vile and depraved, one is still reminded of his humanity and former worth by the pangs of guilt which he suffers in moments of solitude and by the strong bonds of love that connect him to his equally ambitious wife. Herein we realize that the tragedy is not the murders of kings, friends, and children, or the havoc caused by civil war. It is, in fact, the knowledge that a hero has succumbed to the weaknesses inherent in the human race and, embracing wickedness, becomes a villain. This RPG sourcebook focus on the history and setting of this well known Shakespeare piece and how to integrate it into your regular local gaming session. This sourcebook also comes with several adventures seed with different endings to this classic play. You have read the dramatic piece, now play the adventure.Written by Jason J. McCuiston

D20 Shakespeare: Macbeth is a short d20 supplement from LPJ Design. The PDF is just over half a megabyte in size, and is thirteen pages long, with one page set aside for the OGL. No bookmarks are given, nor needed. There's very little artwork in [...]

Shakespeare has a plot for every occasion, and the d20 Shakespeare line is an attempt to introduce those plots to RPGs. Macbeth is a classic play of madness, political treachery and war. The product begins with a Cliff Notes summary of the play, [...]

This piece might be more useful if you own a copy of the play. If you're willing to put a little work into it and want to twist your mind around Shakespeare and d20, pick it up. It is not, however, a complete adventure in any fashion.<br><br [...]

This product can barely be called Shakespeare. They took the names of a few characters from the play and tried to build d20 concepts around them.<br><br><b>DISLIKED</b>: I really can't recommend the purchase of this product. It [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
