This sounds like a very awesome concept. I'd love to use it in my future chronicles I'm planing because it's meant to tie in a lot with the history of my area of the United States and the history of the Native Americans there.

To what extent are they based on native legends, vs. the European vampire and Abrahamic Bible legends?

Are they intended to be Kindred descended from Caine or Antediluvians, or are they meant to represent separate undead creatures like the "Drowned Legacies" ?

Hi Ellen,

Sorry to just be seeing this. The clans Lisa wrote are based strongly in Native traditions and have a totally different origin story from the rest of the Kindred. Mechanically, however, they are very similar. So, that begs some metaplot question on if Caine was the only vampire and it ties well into the cyclical nature of Gehenna as presented in Beckett's Diary.

Thanks.
I can buy "we used Kindred mechanics as an approximation so nobody had to write, playtest, or learn a completely new gameline system".

I've been trying conceptualize the Doma (from Wolof folklore) in the WoD. They're almost, but not quite, like Revenants. I finally just said "Whatever, they get a Beast, Disciplines, and Numina as needed to simulate their freaky powers and urges."

Yeah, sometimes that's what you have to do. Find the closest thing mechanically and run with that.

If Caine never died, and Lilith performed the Ritual of Awakening on him after his original curse, wouldn’t that make Caine a mage? Who learned from Lilith...most likely one of the original mages. But doomed never to ascend because of his curse to live forever? If he never died can he be a vampire, truly? So that would make the second generation the first generation... I just blew my own mind. Sorry I did it on your comment, friend!

Haha Caine would never ascend anyway because he's a huge selfish jerk.

I've asked myself that same question about Caine. From the lore it seems he never "died" for his embrace, but he did learn a form of magic. And since the cursed blood of vampires destroys a mages Avatar, what then?

And what about the Doma? From the articles I've read they were an entire tribe cursed with hunger for human flesh and freakish powers that are passed down matrilinially at birth. It was God's punishment for drinking out of a lake of blood (they were really thirsty! they're sorry already!). So they don't have a single Caine-like founder and they're not even dead, yet they eerily resemble vampires. Also, where did a lake of blood even come from?

Is this v5 compatible? I want to run a campaign in precolumbian North America....

The lore is absolutely compatible, but the rules are designed for V20.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
