THE DEVIL’S SAND BOX - D&D 5e & Pathfinder

THE DEVIL’S SAND BOX is the first completed short adventure for the ongoing project:
THE BOOK OF DARK SECRETS, which is still active on IGG under:

This is a 17 page (actual content, not including credits + covers) short adventure that is in the book THE BOOK OF DARK SECRETS. This book is on its way to become a 240+ page book that will be available in digital PDF, SOFTCOVER and HARDCOVER formats. THE LOST TOMES Volume 1 is another book in this project and there will be a sample adventure coming out for that as well very soon.

The idea behind this project is to have a resource of 36 short adventures ranging from 5 pages to 17+ that are dual-statted for both D&D 5e and Pathfinder. All 36 adventures can also be enjoyed by player levels 1-20. This is done through a simple shortened, 4-tier, color-coded stat block system using very similar monsters that exist in both RPG worlds. Nothing magic, just a slightly different idea….

If you are Uber-retentive, that is cool, and I can respect that, but this might not be for you. IF, however, you are truly open to a new concept withOUT preconceived notions, I am sure that you will find this book/books to be fun, memorable and have a long service life, even after Pathfinder comes out with a new version. I have had some really great personal responses and encouraging remarks and enthusiasm generated from many of the 198 + 9 supporters! I think if you give this a chance, you might very well find yourself AND YOUR PLAYERS enjoying it. Again, this entire project is still active after a successfully-funded KS campaign, but is now on IGG, which you can find under this name.

I’m confused as to what creatures to use for each encounter??? There are like 8 listed. Do I as the GM pick out of the listed possibilities based on my characters level?

Hi, Gordon. Thank you for asking. You are indeed correct. D&D 5e on the left column (vertical) and Pathfinder on the right column (vertical. And as the DM or GM you do indeed CHOOSE which monster to use based on character level. You’ve got this! : )

This is a small part of 20 short adventures, so I did not include the 2 pages of instructions in order to meet the “deadline” that was self-imposed by me for this when it was a successfully-funded KS project. I wanted to get one FULL short adventure before it expired. Right after I did, I had only one person cancel their pledge and a flurry of new pledges. I am getting a very high volume of positive feedback,
but the real test will be when the entire book is 100% done. If you would like to know more or even participate, feel free to contact me here:

I am not sure I can use KS info LINKS, but I could be very wrong. If interested, you can follow me on KS under Matthew A. Bogdan to keep up with this...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
