GM's Maps #49: Modern Office

Map making can be time-consuming and sometimes frustrating for GMs, especially GMs with limited time to begin with. In our new 'GM's Maps' range, we will be providing a range of pre-made maps for you to use in your games.

Offices have been part of human civilisation for hundreds of years. Since the first merchants decided they needed somewhere to work on their books, infantries and paperwork rooms have been set aside in which these business people could keep their offices. Many began in homes or guilds but as business administration became increasingly important and complex custom-made buildings began to spring in which offices could be housed.

The modern age is in many ways the age of the office. With the rise of service industries, sales and marketing departments of manufacturing businesses and even government departments that require large, dedicated, office buildings our cities have seen many more spring up.

In an apocalyptic survival game the PCs might begin in the office building during whatever catastrophe is about to befall your setting. Perhaps they have to escape during the Zombie apocalypse or an alien invasion.

In a cyberpunk or espionage game the PCs may have to find a way to get into the building and steal secrets from the company that owns it, or they may be trying to stop just that sort of thing from happening.

In crime based scenarios your PCs may even be conmen on a long con that either targets one of the important managers in the office or which somehow uses he office as part of the con.
