Infinite Fantasy Worlds Await You!

Tiny Dungeon 2e: The Hatchling Edition is a child friendly iteration of the minimalist fantasy roleplaying game Tiny Dungeon!

Powered by the TinyD6 engine, with streamlined mechanics that use only one to three single six-sided dice on every action, characters that can fit on a 3x5
note card, and easy to understand and teach rules, Tiny Dungeon 2e: The Hatchling Edition is great for players aged six to ninety-six, whether beginners or long-time roleplayers.

Included are nine lightly detailed settings written by a fantastic group of fantasy and game writers. These “micro-settings” are light-weight, open-ended, and designed to inspire adventures for your players, whether they’re part of a one-time adventure or an epic campaign.

So, grab your dice, pencils, a few friends, and get ready for a game of minimalist, straight forward, fantasy roleplaying!

But beware — there be dragons here.

a multi-genre, award-winning, best-selling, easy to learn, easy to teach, and easy to play gaming system!

Is there no kid friendly Character Sheet to go along with this?

Could anyone tell me what size the book is if you get the POD version?

Ideally I would like an A5 sort of size, as I figure a kids' version should be easy for a kid to hold.

What age group is this recommended for? My child is a bit young yet (5), but I'm patiently waiting and curious what a good ballpark might be :)

Hey Ryan!

Children as young as 4 have played it successfully, but if you want them to read it and learn it, probably 10 and up!

Any hurdles if we start with the Hatchling Edition (say to play with my kids), but later want to move into the standard "2e" edition with our characters and campaign?

What are the main differences with the standard "2e" edition, besides a child-friendly layout and feeling?

Classless, no level, simplified rulesets with optional rules if you as a gm might want to add. New playable race, bestiary, micro setting etc. I'm loving this thing just for 50 pages of juicy microsetting. Worth it.

Dani is right!

Our authors also included vocabulary checks to explain terms and words, some adjustments to language and tone, and all the micro-settings are new and child-friendly and focused!

There's a new Hatchling Heritage and some character building guides too.

I bought this as part of a bundle, so DriveThru thinks I have not purchased this title. Otherwise, I would write a review. However, I would say the main difference between Hatchling Edition and regular TD2e is the micro-settings. The main text has been SLIGHTLY edited (no Drunken Master for the kiddies, for example). There are kid-friendly side bars. The art is different. However, the game text is practically the same.

I am still pondering before I review TD2e, but I recommend purchasers get one or the other, but certainly not both. There's not enough difference to pay for it twice — even in the bundle!

You say no level but are there rules for at least a little advancement?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
