I've created paper deckplan posters for several of the ships from my Future Armada and Armada Codex product lines. The product for sale here is a digital image of the Mercury/Talarion poster and is intended for use in gaming via computer or with a table-top projector. These are 24x26 inch jpeg images at 150 dpi. Two images are included: the "front" and "back" of the poster. The maps are at 1 inch = 5 feet scale with a grid built into the floor.

Mercury is a high tech prototype: a mix of human and alien technology captained by self-styled hero known as "The Shepard". He and his beautiful sidekicks are out to do good and, more importantly, win fame for themselves and Project Quicksilver (which produced the craft). Equipped with an advanced cloaking screen, an inertial flux engine, ablative armored skin, and zero bore cannons, Mercury is light-years ahead of the usual ships you'll find cruising the space lanes. Project Quicksilver developed the Mercury prototype as part of a Human/Cyntek joint venture to blend the best technologies of both nations. The result was an elegant ship with impressive abilities, but one within which most human crew were not comfortable. Recently the engineers of the New Albion Shipyards were given the task of “humanizing” the design and the result is the Talarion-class of starships. With a focus on technology and ample science facilities, this class of ship is well suited for research and exploration duties. She is decently armed and very well shielded, but combat is not the goal. With her advanced computer system, the Talarion-class is typically operated by a crew of four, though there are bunks for up to eight spread over half a dozen cabins.

The alien hybrid Mercury prototype is the front of the poster (image 1) and the Talarion exploration vessel is on the back (image 2). Also for sale at RPGNow are the Mercury Trio issue of Future Armada and the Talarion issue of Armada Codex. These products detail the ships and their interiors, and also include the deckplans (on a plain white background) broken into pages for printing.

Physical posters, miniatures, and demo docs are available at 0-hr.com .

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
