Puppies to the Rescue

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This adventure is meant for kids and kids-at-heart. The main NPCs of the party are all puppies (per Pugmire, puppies are puppies until the age of 10 *page 130*) These are puppies of well-trained adult dogs.

This adventure is designed to be a base adventure. This can be modified to fit the party.

Several days ago, Shay and Brayson Dane tracked a stray known to some as Alden. Hoping to deter his trackers, Alden led the dog and the puppy into the Fearful Forest and into a long abandoned tower. In the midst of a fight between the two hunters and a few rats, Shay plummeted below into a dark hole, leaving Brayson to fend for himself.Vowing to save his dad, Brayson entered Hunter’sHaven in hopes of finding those to help.

I just ran this with my kids as their first entry in the world of RPGs.
The story was absolutely perfect for them. It was great to introduce them to the world and the concepts of an RPG.
The characters were well filled out, and the format of the adventure made it very easy to move through.
I really appreciate how the optional NPCs can help bolster the party a little. It makes it easy to use this as an intro to RPGs when you don't have a well-rounded group of PCs.
The setup for pursuing Alden as an immediate launching point for the next adventure is a nice bonus.

The only criticism I have is the descriptions of the scenery were a little slim. No description of the starting tavern, where we spend a lot of time setting up the story and introducing NPCs. Easy enough to work around for an experienced Guide, but someone doing it for the first time might struggle.

Hello, Laura!

I really like what you have done with Puppies to the Rescue. I am the author of a kid-friendly Dungeons and Dragons 5e adventure, An Ogre and His Cake, myself.

I would love to connect with you regarding an idea. If you would like, please find me on Twitter @DMChristopherW.

Please include a bit more information as to what the adventure is about, if the puppies are essentially 0-level characters (becoming 1st level at the end), etc.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
