Gamemasters! Are you running grim & perilous adventures, but tired of dog-earing the pages in your copy of ZWEIHÄNDER Grim & Perilous RPG? Then prepare yourself with our color blind-friendly Monster Cards, available exclusively at DriveThruRPG!

Let's face it: standard US & Euro poker card sizes are too small. That's why every Monster Card has been meticulously lain out in tarot card format in matte finish (2.75" x 4.75"), fitting perfectly in-hand or plugged into the top of your Gamemaster Screen. Every beast has been beautifully illustrated by Dejan Mandic and lain out by Ken Duquet, with each uniquely color-coded for easy memory using a legible font (visible even when you're five pints deep in the evening). In fact, we took cues from Flock of Seagulls with the card's design: party in the front (illustration), and business on the back (creature stats). Or flip that - you get the picture.

Every card has the usable stats on the Gamemaster's side. On the front side, the classification and picture of the creature for the players. We've also included blank cards for you to make your own creatures!

Best of all, the deck includes all of the creatures in the bestiary, making for a whopping total of 130 cards!

Grab your official ZWEIHÄNDER Grim & Perilous RPG - Monster Cards today, and prepare yourself for a world of grim & perilous adventure!

ZWEIHÄNDER Grim & Perilous RPG is the ENnie Award-winning Best Game and Product of the Year for 2018!

As featured on Forbes, ranked in the top 20 best selling, Adamantine Rated on DriveThruRPG and having sold over 26,000 physical copies and 62,000 digital copies worldwide, ZWEIHÄNDER Grim & Perilous RPG is a bloodier, grimmer and grittier version of classic tabletop role-playing games you may already familiar with. The community calls this style of gaming the “pathetic aesthetic”, but we simply call it grim & perilous gaming.

Using the classical D100 system, you will create grim characters, write perilous adventures and build low fantasy & dark fantasy campaigns. These rules are perfectly suitable to run Renaissance and medieval-styled adventures, too. You can also use this book to craft homebrew stories set in the works of Andrzej Sapkowski The WitcherGeorge R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice And FireGlen Cook's Black CompanyScott Lynch's Gentlemen Bastards and other ‘grimdark’-inspired worlds.

ZWEIHÄNDER Grim & Perilous RPG is a retro-clone spiritual successor to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay first and second editions, an unrepentant OSR heartbreaker released under Creative Commons License Share-Alike. It is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game, one where adventurers will:

  • Live in a gritty, ‘realistic’ fantasy world
  • Make morally grey decisions & enact vicious reprisals
  • Uncover insidious plots & political intrigue
  • Desperately fight in clandestine & open field combat
  • Defend themselves from injuries, madness & mutations
  • Take part in heart-pumping chase scenes
  • Venture into the wilderness & survive its perils
  • Encounter sanity-blasting creatures & their minions

This 692 page, all-in-one game includes most of what you need to play: a character creation guide, game mastery rules and a bestiary brimming with creatures both fair & foul. All that’s left to gather are a few friends, pencils and a handful of dice.

ZWEIHÄNDER awaits, and the fate of your grim & perilous tale hangs in the balance!

These are some beautiful cards, and I love how I can show my players how the monster look, while I myself get to see it's stats (and how big the cards are!). Now, mostly I have to play online to get a group together, and Roll20 is a great tool for that. But I have had trouble importing the cards... does anyone here have any idea? I will also ask customer support over at roll20 of cause, just wondered if anyone else had some experience with it here =)

Did you ever find a solution with getting the cards in? I got the all-in-one pack and have had the same trouble getting the cards in.

Hey, sorry for the very late reply xD but I just ended up importing the monster card picture side, and used the card deck thing in roll20 to make it something I could get show my players, and then just have multiple copies of the PDF rulebook open at the same time to look at each monsters stat as they were used (I have multiple screens). Never got around to ask on roll20, so there might be a better solution out there.

if I buy the watermarked PDF, can it be printed without the obvious watermark showing? (I'm running a game, and I cant wait for 1 month or 2 to get the actual cards.)

Hi Paul.,

Very sorry, but it is our company policy to include the watermark on all our PDF products.

um i didnt buy it yet, but how big is the watermark suppose to be, does it cover the entire thing that it makes the text unreadable? id is it faded enough that you can still read it even if printed in black and white?

wooo ok, but my purpose was how big the watermark is, if it will render any printing of the cards unreadable? thanks for the sample... is the watermark that text under?

The cards should be leligible, as the watermark shows your name and order ID along the bottom colored borders.

So are there going to be tuck boxes for these? If so I can wait to save on shipping. I love the stuff for Zweihänder. Maybe with things like cards could we get a tuck box, even a cut and glue one or a clear statement that there are no plans for one. You all do great work and I am grateful for it. I just would like to give you money rather than pay for shipping and then pay again. It ain't much I know but it does rankle. My apologies if I sound at all like, 'that guy".

Unfortunately, the volume of cards exceed the tuck box size that DTRPG can create for these.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
