Nort's Universal Martial Maneuvers - Basics

Suggested Price $1.00

An expansion of over 75 martial maneuvers to all classes.

The more you sweat in practice, the less you bleed in battle. While the wizards heads’ stuck in a book and the cleric mumbles mumbo jumbo, what do you think the martials are doing?

They’re getting ready for what’s coming.

All martials need tricks up their sleeves. Not least because a happy meatwall makes a healthy wizard.

Designed to offer more choices and meaning for martial characters, especially fighters, this rules expansion recognises the tension between martial prowess and spellcasting ability and tips the scale in favour of martial prowess.

Whether your campaign is a gritty survivalist crapsack world, legendary mythic fantasy,  or just a bit of harmless elfwank, NUMM offers a tiered system to add and swap moves and gimmicks creating fun choices that don’t break the game or lock in character builds.

This supplement gives you:

  • Over 75 maneuvers across 5 tiers.
  • Level 1-20 implementation table for all classes.
  • Principles and definitions to help add maneuvers for your campaign.
  • Plus optional extra tricks and stunts for creative combat resolution.

This supplement is the Basics version. It will be updated less frequently than the full version which is available here.

Keep the universe expanding! If you enjoy this supplement please consider reviewing or offering feedback to make updates even more universal.

Two questions. One, for maneuvers that have At Higher Tier, does the character get those capabilities automatically once they reach that tier or is character required to "purchase" the higher tier version?

Two, regarding Beyond Damage Dice, did you just add those as additional maneuvers a character can choose from?

One: It's automatic. If for some reason the player wanted to perform a maneuver at a lower tier I'd probably allow it.
Two: There are some weapon features in Beyond Damage Dice I don't allow at my table. I don't consider them maneuvers as they don't depend on superiority dice. It's meant as a suggestion for DMs to consider, it's not tested and balanced with Universal Martial Maneuvers.

Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
