A player guide for Tiny Dungeon 2e!

Containing all the rules you need for Tiny Dungeon, whether you are a player or a GM! From character creation, through dungeon generation, and with an extensive (for a tiny roleplaying game) bestiary, you'll have everything you need but a setting!

Powered by the minimalist TinyD6 ruleset, all you'll need are some six-sided dice, this PDF and some 3x5 notecards, and you can dig into a stream-lined and stripped down fantasy roleplaying game!

This product does not contain the micro-settings that you'll find in the core Tiny Dungeon 2e book.

Kind of a weird comment, but I recall reading something about an alternative Zone system. I can't recall which TinyD6 book it was under and I can't seem to find it. Can anyone point me at it? Thanks!

There's an updated Zone system in Tiny Cthulhu that says it'll be the version going forward.
Only differences I see are that Ranged can now be used in Close with Disadvantage, and Heavy Melee has Disadvantage at Near.

Treat yourself to this one. It's ALL you actually need if you like a good simple fast easy to play game.
You don't need a monster manual or magic tomes here. You don't need a campaign guide.

This game is idiot friendly for newbs, and is all a veteran GM needs to get some fast lightweight easy gaming.
You can literally play this over a cafe table at lunch breaks with friends. You need some dice, barely any paper, and your imagination.

What is the difference/overlap between this and Tiny Dungeon: Second Edition (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/230298/Tiny-Dungeon-Second-Edition)? Does one need both? Is one a superset of the other?

Hey! This player's guide omits the settings and some other details, but it's a fully playable resource for players and GMs.

Thanks! So Tiny Dungeon: Second Edition (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/230298/Tiny-Dungeon-Second-Edition) is a superset of this text?

Just recently purchased the TD2E rules guide and TD2E Players' handbook, PDF editions, and am enjoying working my way through this system. :-)

One tiny issue I'm currently running into is missing PDF navigation in the Players' Guide.

The primary TD2E rulebook (file name TD2e_Rulebook_-_Digital_-_v4.pdf) has nice PDF navigation bookmarks, whereas the Players' Guide (file name TD2e_Rulebook_-_PlayersGuide-Digital.pdf) does not have any PDF navigation at all.

Is there any chance the Players' Guide PDF export could be updated to include this?
Thanks!

Thanks for the great game! I purchased this a while ago, and received a hardcover copy as well as a pdf. The pdf is fine, but the hardcover has some printing issues - the white backgrounds of the images overlap the text in some places. This makes the hardcover book basically unuseable, since lots of rules are covered up. I could never hand it to a player at the table and expect them to be able to find a rule, for example.

I don't need a new copy - I'm a book nerd, and love me some printing errors - but I thought I should mention it for the publisher. Do you know when this issue will be solved, or has it already been fixed?

This hasn't been an issue in the past and we've reproofed the book repeatedly.

We'll take down the POD while we look into it, but it could be several weeks/months while we sort it out.

Received my hardcover copy today, and have already notified DTRPG of two issues, one minor, the other major.

Minor: The title/credits page was omitted. This shifted the pages by one - even pages on the right, odd pages on the left - making the section tabs appear in the gutter between pages rather than the on the edges as intended.

Major: Over half the art dropped its clipping path. This means that when a piece of art overlaps other art or text, there's a white box covering whatever is supposed to be underneath.

I've contacted DTRPG and will update if this gets corrected in the replacement.

Just bought this because I need a system for fantasy one-shot gaming events at our rpg book shop. From reading it, I especially like the flexiblity in character generation ... however, one thing I don't get: Why does disadvantage trump advantage? Wouldn't that mean that in a situation that is especially difficult, the specialist loses any advantage he has over all the others? So basically, if you're just trying to climb a tree, the guy who has a trait that helps him to be a climber is much better than his fellow without such a trait; but when he wants to climb a slippery wall, his chances are just as bad as everyone else's? This doesn't seem to be helpful for giving specialists their spotlight.

Hmmm..., I see what you mean, I myself would prefer that in the above situation, the climber roll the standard 2d6 vs everyone else at 1d6 with magic items granting 3d6.

I know this is an old post but I figure I'd through in my two sense. You could say, as a house rule, that disadvantage removes one die from your die-pool. That way in the situation you described, you would role 2d6 but everyone else would roll 1d6 (being the minimum of course). The GM could always override this house rule depending on the situation and say regardless of your talents you will have full disadvantage and can only roll 1d6.

Are the micro-settings the only difference between this and the main book (http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/230298/Tiny-Dungeon-Second-Edition)?

Same question here. Just discovered Tiny Dungeon 2e and -love- it -- so am picking up a few other things, but want to make sure the Player's Guide isn't just a cut-down version of the full second edition...

Hey folks.

The only difference between the two books is the micro-settings. All the rules will be there. I will say, I highly recommend the micro-settings as they do occasionally add supplemental setting specific rules and are great examples on how to customize TinyD6 to your own world.

Hi, Thanks for a great product, I am looking forward to play testing it in the near future.

My question is in combat about the "using both actions to attack", 2 attacks per combat round? Do you intend that to be the normal attack?
Do you expect players to do a focus and then attack?

I Just want to check I am understanding the rules correctly.

Hey Anthony!

Both of those options you outlined are valid. Two normal attacks, or a focus and attack can both be done.

An update correcting the errors indicated in the full version's comment's would be nice for this one, too. Namely the Diehard trait (2 HP instead of 1 HP) and Nimble Fingers (needs a new paragraph). Haven't found anything else so far.

Apart from that, the Player's Guide looks real good and I find the price more befitting the content than the full version. Which doesn't mean the full version is not recommended, I just don't have use for campaign settings as I'm using my own.

Oh and... are the armor rules missing? The Armor Master trait states you get additional HP, and there are optional armor rules, but I can't find the basic armor rules right now.

Hey Michael!

The Armor Master trait is the "basic" armor rules. Other then that, there are no rules for armor (other than the optional ones.)

Oh, I see, thanks for your reply. So, just for clarification - in the basic rules, unless you have the Armor Master trait you don't get any use from armor, and with the trait, the type of armor doesn't matter as it always uses the trait's HP bonus?

Thanks for the updated PDF, btw! The Diehard trait still says 2 HP, though.

Oh, OK! Thanks for this clarification! I was just surprised at it because it might allow a character to get from 1 HP to 2 HP by getting hit. I guess that's a big adrenaline rush, then!

Hey Diego. There are rules for advancement and experience, but the game works best for shorter campaigns (6 to 12.)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
