This looks super cool and I really appreciate the hand drawn look, but are there plans to go full colour? Pardon my ignorance, but this can be used in Roll20, Fantasy Grounds, etc? I saw this on facebook and hit the link.

Hey there Don, yeah I use it in roll20 and fantasygrounds. I have been playing around with test colour assets but I do plan on keeping all the official releases to this sketch style.

I was excited to include this into my dungeon building with Hobbyte's DungeonBuilder, but apparently I should have done some additional background research. Had I known that I would spend 15 hours, $50, and more emotional and intellectual labor than I care to admit I would not have purchased. Even after following the instructions on NexusMod (which are vague) and scouring the downloads for any kind of instruction (and finding none), I'm no closer than when I started. Even reading the discussions here, I can see that there is a mention going back to August that has not been responded to by the publisher (but they have replied to other more recent inquiries). I'm going to repeat this in the Reviews section, I don't like to complain but I'm not sure what choice I have aside from just taking a loss.

I have nothing to do with Hobbytes DungeonBuilder, I designed these to be drag and drop into the big popular digital tabletops. I am super disappointed you have not liked the material, Shoot me an email alexdrummo@gmail.com and I'll happily sort it out for you.

I love these so much. If you want a great free program for this; Microsoft Whiteboard is awesome (and endless). I now have EVERY one of these packs. This can be years of fun! I've just started working on making Epic Isometric maps for specific D&D modules flat maps. I'll have entire towns, outdoor areas and dungeons built soon. One thing I do wish is that the objects were in color. Great job for VTT !

Anybody else notice that the while the bundle costs $50, the individual books plus the halloween book cost a total of $40 at the moment?
Customer avatar
Jeffrey Q December 07, 2018 8:16 pm UTC
No they don't. The Monster Pack is 10, Hero pack is 10, patreon season 1 and 2 are both 10, and the classic + advanced bundle is 12.50. The Halloween one is free.

That's actually $52.50, so you save $2.50 with this one.

Nice artwork. I have a couple of questions. 1 - Is there a license included with this pack for using the items for commercial purposes, or is that not allowed? 2 - Is it possible to import/cut and paste the icons and pics into PowerPoint? Thank you.

I love the art in this bundle, but i can't figure out how to import the tokens, building pieces, etc. into Hobbyte's DungeonBuilder.
If anyone can help with this I'd be beyond grateful. I'm relatively new to VTT's so i apologize if it's something simple I'm missing.

Good question John. I have a follow up. If I purchase these amazing bundles, will I be able to upload them to GIMP or Photoshop to create dungeons that I will project onto our physical game table?

The files are all compatible with photoshop and GIMP yes, I use png files with transparent backgrounds, so easy to edit.

So I'm trying to figure out which of the various sets to purchase and I would appreciate some advice. I think this bundle is the best option because it seems to include the two biggest releases? Like it has both the advanced and classic core sets? So if I'm gonna buy only one pack, should it be this one?

Also does this bundle include the Hero Pack or Monster Pack 1? Or the Patreon Season 1 release?

And the art looks beautiful, but I've got some concerns about using this on Roll20 and it's mainly about tokens. Since it's recommended that we turn off the grid, how do people usually deal with measuring distances and snapping to the grid (since there is no grid)?

What size do you typically make tokens so that the size of the character tokens is proportional to the map itself? Do you guys usually use this for setting the scene, or do you also use it for exploration and battle? Is there a way to make maps for different seasons, i.e. winter, summer, fall?

Hey there John sorry for the late reply,
ok so the bundle consists of the core set (premade maps, tokens, card handouts) it also comes with the Advanced set (map elements folders) so you can piece together your own maps and dungeons. The bundle does not include Hero Pack 1 or monster pack 1 or Patreon season 1, these were all released as their own products. I am currently working on a big expansion as well as Patreon season 2.

While using roll20 people will normaly measure using the ruling tool during their turn to determine specific distances. My page setup for each big map is 100 x 100 units with each unit being 4 ft.
I sized the tokens to that a human male is 6ft tall and I use a bit of artistic licence. People are playing big campaigns with the set and so far the feedback has been phenomenal and super positive, I have been working on loads of new monsters to keep the dungeons full.

No worries, and I have to apologize for my late response now. I bought this set as well as the Patreon Season 1 and Hero Pack. Used them with my players about two weeks ago for the first time and they absolutely loved it! I wish I had recorded their reactions. To hear them be so happy and excited made me very happy and excited in turn. So I wanted to say thank you so much for making these awesome sets and for facilitating that great experience! It was honestly a great experience and really invigorating and that wouldn't have been possible without your hard work on these sets.

I do have a small request. In the Patreon Season 1 bundle I got an Evil Wizard and Undead Dragon token and I was wondering if you had, or could make, just an Undead Dragon token? I'd like to use a dracolich at some point, and that would fit perfectly! Also, do you have a tutorial of some sort on how we can use the map pieces to create our own maps? Thanks again for the great work Alex!

And quick question...See more

Alex, I'm having trouble re-locating your map setting recommendations for Roll20 use. Could you include them as a txt readme or something in the zip file?

Hey, quick question. Trying to build a map in roll20 for the first time. The smaller parts upload just fine, but it doesn't want to upload the blank map backgrounds properly.

Any experience with this?

The files will print, they are .png format that most graphics packages handle. If you are up to a big craft project it would be fine, I designed them with digital tabletops in mind but there is no reason you can't print them out. Send me some pics of your effort :)

OK - Silly question. Can you print these out and cut them up for regular tabletop use or are they only used for Roll20 / Fantasy Grounds?

Thanks.

It is possible to print them although they are formatted for digital tabletop. If you are up for a craft project and don't mind cutting loads of paper it would be fine.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
