Thrilling Tales 2e: Pulp Villains - Baron Korga

Adamant Entertainment is pleased to present the latest in our new line of Thrilling Tales products: Pulp Villains!

Each Pulp Villains release will detail a nefarious non-player-character, ready to be dropped into your pulp-genre Savage Worlds game, fully statted, with details on their methods, motives, special gear, henchmen, allies and more -- along with a collection of adventure hooks for their use.

In this installment:

THE ORB OF HYPERBOREA! For millennia it has been the plaything of cultists and kings. It has shaped the course of empires greater than modern man has ever seen!

“Generations of wise men and would-be conquerors have tried to puzzle out its secrets. Adventurers such as yourself have ventured to the darkest corners of the Earth for fragments—fragments—of the Priest-Kings’ forgotten lore. They could sense the power slumbering within the Orb, but no matter what they tried, no matter how much blood they spilled, it refused to obey them.

“Do you know why they failed? Because the Orb was waiting for the right person to unlock it. It is a relic of an age that respected no laws, a time when men of courage and ruthless spirit could shape the world to suit their desires. A world where a man could spill so much blood that he was no different from a god.

“That world will soon be reborn. I will wake the power of the Orb and use it to unleash a legion of steel and fire that will crush the petty empires of the world! I will grind the great nations of Earth beneath my heel, and mankind will bow before the might of Korga!

“A new age is dawning, my friend. A pity you will not live to see it.”

A sinister aristocrat with a shadowy past and bent on conquest and destruction! From his secret fortress on a tiny Greek isle, he recruits—or presses into service—the brave and the ruthless. He commands the Fekete Sereg, a deadly band of mercenaries. His allies include a pirate queen and smuggler. Armed with a mystic Hyperborean artifact, he strikes forth from the bridge of THE KRAKEN, a skyscraper-sized submersible that can also walk on land! Among his weapons: The Iron Hussars, ancient war machines that obey his every command!

Pulp Villains: Baron Korga, by Michael B. Lee, uses the Savage Worlds rules system, as featured in THRILLING TALES 2nd Edition, and features a cover by comic artist Colton Worley (Dynamite Comics' The Spider). 32 pages, featuring fully-statted NPCs and adventure hooks, plus a collection of bonus 11x17 printable poster handouts—external and internal schematics of THE KRAKEN, schematics of the Iron Hussars, and an overview map of Castle Korga and environs, each presented in multiple colorations and styles.

Wait, the book PDF didn't show in the download? What the–-?

Jeffrey: shoot me a mail at estrautmann at gmail, and I'll see if I can sort this out. There was some weirdness on DriveThru with the book not showing in searches, and I'm wondering if this is related.

It was neat to get all the posters (half a gig in zip format!), but where's the book? There wasn't any actual discussion of Baron Korga anywhere in the download!

Not sure what happened there. I've gone in and updated the file; you SHOULD (knock wood) be able to pull it down now. If not, contact me directly at estrautmann - at - gmail, and I'll get you sorted out. My apologies for the hassle; hope you enjoy the book!

It took a few tries, but I got it! Thanks. It appears that DriveThru has some issues lately with downloads. This is the third one I've had issues with in less than a month.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
