Toy World

Watermarked PDF

In this setting for Adventurers! the players roleplay children’s toys, living in a daycare center in a large mall. The toys spend their days playing with the kids visiting the daycare center, and at night, filled with power of Joy, they participate in their own adventures. Teddy bears try to outwit the servant of the Rat King, master brick builders try to help the parrots in the pet store, and plastic paladins with shining swords maintain order. This is Toy World.

And as other Adventurers! settings, Toy World include:

A player guide (with a description of the world, new Skills, gear and much more)
A game master guide (with a mini-gazetteer, specific magic and monster rules)
A full-fledged scenario
6 Pre-generated heroes
20+ new monsters on Monster Cards (so you can easily consult them during the game)

Again, really wish this was in the standard 2 page per pdf format. Further this should be made clear in the product description page that it is intended for play with actual children and combat and aggression is considered something for antagonists. The cover art gives a really different feel of what te product seems to want to convey.

I like the idea of a good intro RPG for kids, don't get me wrong. Just didn't know that is what I was buying. Also like the last few new products this one just seems less well thought out. The Boxed Set skill for example is just a terrible mechanic of random.

About 2 pages - see other post.

And it is not a game for children, to be honest...

"Toy World is a specific setting, created for playing with children. That’s why its major assumptions include lack of death and limited violence. When playing in this setting you need to remember that aggression is evil, and limited only to evil characters, like rats. When running adventures in the Mall you should show the kids how to behave and treat others properly. You need to think over your adventure, to avoid some iffy subjects." you even read your own products then?

All I'm saying is the game needs to be better advertised for what it is. I have no issue with an intro RPG for children being part of the core games product line, I even think it's perfect for the system. But I did not intend to buy a kids game and wanted to point out the cover art and description give no real indication.

The game most certainly was not written with Teenagers/Young-Adults in mind...

Ok, I take your point.
But Jakub did this game for 16+ (here, 14+)

Dark, but what you can see it in TV.

Personally I think this game would shine for the 10-13ish group and find nothing Dark about it other than the single solitary creature "The Ooze" which is btw really neat. I think Teenagers would find the game way below them.

Again sorry to come off rude, I was frustrated because I wanted/expected a game more like Brom's "The Plucker" where Toys were going to be in an indeed, darker more Sword and Sorcery (Stuffing?) setting.

The Product gives me building blocks and ideas to do so at least.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
