PARKOUR! Leap right into the Dresdenverse!

Welcome to Dresden Files Accelerated, a pared-down, pick up and play RPG set in the world of Jim Butcher’s NYT bestselling Dresden Files series. Take a jaunt through the Nevernever, stand up to the Black Court, and sit down for a pint at Mac’s. This book contains all you need to make it happen.

In this book, Ivy—a.k.a. the Archive—will walk you through everything you need to know to get your game running, including:

  • An introduction to the major supernatural players in the Dresdenverse and the places you might meet them.
  • A new mantle system that speeds up character creation and gets you into the game fast.
  • Faction-based campaign creation that creates immediate drama and action for your group.
  • A scale system to support interacting with and playing at various power levels.
  • Easy-to-learn Fate Accelerated style gameplay, with a few clever Dresdenverse tweaks.

Dresden Files Accelerated.
Fun. Fast. FUEGO!

how does it compare with the other Dresden Files book? Can I replace the other book and still use the supplements? Should I buy both?

Sorry to hear that. We calculated it as a fair price based on the $35 hardcover and our general perspective on the value of "pure content". You can read more about that perspective here. http://www.deadlyfredly.com/2016/02/pdf-vs-physical/

Will this be available in ePub and Kindle formats at some time, like some of the other Fate products? I'd greatly appreciate that!

No such plans exist. In general the epub/kindle market hasn't demonstrated a strong (i.e., costs-justifying) demand for the format.

Bought this book through my game store. Is there a 'deal' to get the PDF, or full price only?

With all of Evil Hat's RPGs, there's always a deal, as explained: http://www.evilhat.com/home/pdf-guarantee/

Has anyone tried printing the book? I'm wondering if letter sized or a special trade paperback size print works better.

Are rules for magic transferable to other Fate Accelerated games? Just curious.

As with any transplant there's likely to be some modification necessary, but it's the nature of Fate that you can kitbash most stuff made for it with most other stuff made for it. :)

Although I'm VERY interested in this, the "full preview" is nowhere near enough of a taste to get me to buy. Please consider putting up a more detailed preview, not just the table of contents.

I'd figured that was the best way to give folks an overview of what all's inside, but I'll see about extending it by a few pages.

Is this a stand-alone game, or do I need the previous edition to make use of it?

Good question! This is a stand-alone game, a Fate Core (by way of Fate Accelerated) powered 2017 alternative to the 2010 pre-Fate Core DFRPG that came before.

"This is a stand-alone game, a Fate Core (by way of Fate Accelerated) powered 2017 alternative to the 2010 pre-Fate Core DFRPG that came before."

I have no clue what that means. So which is it? Core or Accelerated? I am not interested in Accelerated is why I ask. I prefer Core. Thanks!

Since as its publisher I continue to strongly assert that the difference between Core and Accelerated is largely cosmetic, I'm not going to give you a particularly satisfying answer there. They are the same system; Fate Accelerated merely has fewer examples and an alternative skill list, but *it is an implementation of Fate Core* so they are both Core.

That said the word choices we made in the product title for Dresden Files Accelerated should indicate to you whether or not the cosmetic difference is too much for you. :)

I got my copy a month ago. Great work by the way. I think the magic system is excellently done and the section on Fate Points is much clearer in comparison with the Core rules. Totally worth a buy!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
