Crazy 8s Rules-Lite Engine Revised Edition

Watermarked PDF

Crazy 8s is a rules-lite, universal game engine that is intended to provide a quick, easy to learn and fun RPG experience that anyone from the first time newbie to the seasoned veteran can use to create a simple, kick-ass role-playing experience.

The Crazy 8s engine is built around the use of two eight-sided die (2d8) rolled against a difficulty set by the Talespinner, who acts as the principal storyteller and rules adjudicator. The Crazy 8s System is based on character skills, gear and Awesome points, which players may spend in order to edit the story and have numerous in-game effects.

Crazy 8s 2nd edition has been greatly revised and includes more character options and guidelines for new and existing storytellers while keeping in line with the freeflowing systems that make the game a freeflowing rules lite system.

Crazy 8s  2nd edition was developed by Craig Teal and Christopher Cortright and was based off the original mechanics by Travis Legge.

What kinds of settings are included in this book? Are there plans to create any setting expansions? I was a fan of first edition and am intrigued by the new edition.

Big fan of the original Crazy 8s system. Excited to see that a revised edition of the rules has been released. System is solid BUT the pdf is ripe with misspellings that should have been caught with a simple spellcheck. Many other editorial errors also exist. Reluctant to give a formal review until these are fixed.

Additional Follow-up. You indicate "The Mighty" as an archetype, but then detail the"The Strong". Also no details for "The Savvy". Finally much of the material in the "Other Settings" such as discussion of Races and Toughness should be folded into main body text.

Hi, Thank you for the feedback, well look into the points you raised. Spelling wise this is a UK publication so spellings will be UK versions. But saying that ill pass this back to the team to review.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
