The Wizard of Warlock Tower: Let's Play

Watermarked PDF

YOU are a Skeleton worker. You've been abruptly left in charge of the local parish of pixies, elves and other assorted scum when your unlife force starts draining away. Something suspicious is going down in Warlock Tower, the place where you were reanimated. You must travel through the treacherous and violent lands around Bilgeton to the tower where you will do battle with the Wizard! But how can you, a humble skeleton, defeat such a powerful magic user without breaking Union codes?

The Wizard of Warlock Tower is the second "Let's Play" set in the world of Sword of the Bastard Elf. It's also probably the last of its type. It was written during the final days of the Star Bastards Kickstarter. Like the other "Let's Plays" it's not actually playable - it's a record of decisions made during the playthrough on the Something Awful forums. It might entertain you though and it should give you a taste of what's coming with Sword of the Bastard Elf since a number of characters and locations in this book will feature in that one when it comes out some time next year.

The mechanics involved in this book include group battles, necromancy and harvesting body parts. There's also a lot of trade unionism in this one. This download includes the main text, all hyperlinked so you can click through it, one of the expansions played through in the Let's Play and all the item, creature and body parts cards involved in the adventure.

Warning: this isn't for kids. While there's no expicit sex it's pretty heavily implied that some boning is going on. Also there's some violence and a skeleton going around harvesting body parts.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
