The Bowman Arm is a section of the Spinward Main running through District 268 of Spinward Marches sector. It lies beyond the Imperial border but links the outposts of Five Sisters subsector with the rest of the Imperium. Many of its frontier worlds are not Imperial members, making this area of space difficult at best and more often hazardous for Imperial traders to operate within.

This book explores this part of the Spinward Marches, visiting worlds of note, the politics affecting them, and the adventures Travellers may have within the Bowman Arm.

The Bowman Arm is the perfect addition to Marches Adventure 1: High and Dry!

Why isn't this on the main Mongoose Publishing site?

How the hell do I know what's out and what's not!

The pdf details several planets with a paragraph or 2 of information. There is a brief description of the borders between the Imperium, the sword worlds and Zhodani Consulate, but not a single map of the area and how/where they intermingle.

You would think a pdf/book about an area/region would at least have a map of said area, but such is not to be found here.

The price point is okay but they ought to have sector/subsector maps!

Leaving out the maps was a questionable decision. Possibly they were thinking that they'd be accused of wasting space cut and pasting maps from other products. For instance the adventure High and Dry has a map of the area immediately around Bowman and I'm sure the Spinward Marches book must have a map of the whole marches.

Now matter how poor you think the absence of maps in this is it is worthwhile to know that there are free and excellent maps available at www.travellermap.com. The download button will give you the option to create a pdf of the entire sector as a poster or as a booklet with each subsector on a page. You can also generate a map showing up to six parsecs around any specific planet.

From the preview pages, this appears to be a reformat and re-release of the old ComStar/Avenger "Cluster Book 1 - The Bowman Arm", originally released for T20 back in 2006.

Since that book has been OOP for a while, this is a welcome re-issue, and I hope Mongoose re-releases more of these older gems.

I presume that the (few) game related stats have been updated to Mongoose V2 standards, but having not seen the product, I can't be sure.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
