Unleash your imagination to dream of other worlds, where you roleplay heroic characters and go on adventures, just like in the days of old.

Slay a dragon!
Sometimes even the most reluctant adventurer will hear the call of the Wilderness and set out to slay a dragon, or at least steal its treasure!

Explore the unknown!
There is no limit to the lands you can explore and magic you can discover.

Fight on!
So grab your sword, mace or wand and travel beyond the borderlands and brace yourself to face great and terrible monsters. And remember, no matter what happens… Fight on!

Hi, I'm publishing a campaign setting, and I'd like to include a "White Box Compatible" logo on the cover. Is there such a logo? (Or may I make one?) I realize there's a Swords & Wizardry Compatibility logo, but we only used your White Box ruleset. Please email me at twelvefoldworks@pm.me

In so far as I know there has never been one created. So I made one:

I believe the softcover 6x9 digest can be found on Amazon for 1/7 of the price albeit its B/W vs the printed color options here.

Help me with this. I can't remember how D&D used to play in the old days, but are you able to do ONLY ONE thing on your turn. Or can you move, shoot, and attack.

The only comment I can offer, is this is from Seattle Hill Games, which is just a name created by Charlie Mason, which is a clone of Swords and Wizardry from Mythmere Games. And there is a conection somewhere with Frog God Games.

Regardless of how it appears, this is the same thing more or less with the other item called White Box : Fantastic Medieval Adventure Game which has a black and white designed cover.
Neither is worth 25 bucks in hardcover though. Amazon can sell you a softcover for 6 bucks. It's an ok book, but it's not a 25 dollar item.

For solo D&Ding this is a must allowing you to play with stripped down, simplified rules from the early days of the D&D rule system.

That's quite a price jump for the hardcopy, especially given the same is still available for about three bucks on lulu, four on amazon.

Question on the Fighter's Combat Fury ability. Do they get their extra attack(s) only on enemies with 1 HD or fewer (a creature with 2 HD not counting) or 1 HD or fewer than the warriors current HD?

I ask because, when I look through the monsters, I don't see any 1 HD creatures.

It works on creatures with 1HD or less. This would include Rats, Goblins, Kobolds, Orcs etc...

Those are for NPC wizards. PC's aren't supposed to get higher than level 10.

Following up on the second of two questions for the publisher, because I'm interested in the alt. covers, too:

2) Will any of the old cover options be availiable again as print on demand choices. I ask as I love the previous William McAusland and Stefan Poag covers.

I'd like to ask a request to the author: is it possible to update the table of contents to include the monster names, or the initial letter? I think it would make it perfect (the book is already amazing)!

I saw a one line blog from the author on 04/22/20 indicating that this has been updated to version 2.1 but I do not see any update here nor do I seem able to respond anywhere at that website.

Does anyone have any information on this or know how to obtain that update?

Thank you!

I've no idea about contacting Charlie Mason; but FWTW, I tried getting the POD of this book from Amazon back in July of 2021, and it was the older version as well, so I returned it. I'm not sure he's updated the files anywhere. This might be a case of abandonware..

Have a question about the Morale Check table on page 40. What does "Fight for Advantage" mean? Is this saying that the monster group will fight until they have advantage over the party? For some odd reason I'm not "getting" it. Thanks for any clarification.

That's the way I see it: the monsters will fight until they are in a better position -- maybe wound the party a bit more than they are wounded -- then maybe the Ref checks morale again?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
