Heyo! Would you ever consider putting this into a booklet (A6) format. I really dig the pocket concept, but I favor books over cards.

Brandon,

Love this game! Looking forward to trying The Lost Vault of Urstav. Thanks for developing an amazing minimalist RPG. I have play tested MANY, and this is without a doubt my favorite. I have an interesting "edition?" of the game I would like to share with you. I have modified the form factor of the game into a printable booklet (38 pages believe it or not).

Hi there!

Very interesting system! I have a few specific questions about the mechanics, if you don't mind me asking.

With regards to the Druid's "Beast Friend" ability and the Necromancer's "Undead Minion" ability:
- Do the same rules from the Wizard Summon Monster spell apply, i.e.: The creature only starts acting on the following round (not the round in which it was summoned)?

- Does the caster need to spend their action to control the creature? This question also applies for the Commander's "Soliders" ability. The Wizard's "Summon Monster" ability does not require the caster to spend their turn, but I am not sure if the same applies here.

- Can the creature be instructed to harm itself, or is that restricted like the Wizard's "Summon Monster" ability? This question also applies for the Commander's "Soliders" ability.

Are Druids able to calm beasts and get a Beast Friend during...See more

Thanks for the questions and checking out the game. I will clarify all these questions in an updated file. But until that is up the answers are the following.

The beast friend and undead minion will act on the round after they are “summoned” just like the wizard. If they are summoned up before the combat they can act on the first action when their “controller” acts.

Summoned, beast friend or soldiers do not take up their “controller’s” action. The game aims for fun first and losing your action is not fun imo.

All summoned, beast friend and soldiers will not harm themselves. When it comes to soldiers the pocket master will have to decide what would harm the soldier in specific situations they may face and either have the player role play their orders to the soldiers or just make a ruling that yes or no the soldier won’t do that order.

Druids may calm and get a Beast Friend in combat but the Pocket Master should use the task system for how enraged...See more

I’d rule undead minion could hurt themselves.

Thanks again and please leave a review once you get to try out the game!

Just wondering, does anyone know of somewhere that people are making any kind of new content for this game? I have enjoyed playing it occasionally with family, but we are starting to want to expand the available options for things like classes and the like. Thanks!

Thanks for checking out the game and I’m glad you enjoy it! I will work on some new classes and maybe some other content in the near future. It will be a pay what you want release to help me pay for art. I have a lot of work ahead of me on a different project but will try to get them done as soon as possible. Thanks again!

If I find a way to convert this into a board game, should I share that with you? Because the addition of all the cards really lends to that.

Great to hear! Thanks for the kind words. Please review it once you get to play it as reviews go a long way with people seeing it. Yeah putting out a retail version has been considered and could still be a possibility in the future as well as different genres such as space and post-apocalyptic. Again thanks for the feedback, it’s what fuels me to make more!

I tried to have a session with a friend, and there was some confusion about the Wizard's Staff of Magic Missiles. I take it that the MM's are for a ranged attack? How many of them are there in the staff? My friend liked the magic system, so that's good.

Hey Ralph, thanks for trying out the game. The Staff can cast an infinite amount of magic missiles as ranged attacks or can be used as a melee weapon, both using the same CS, d6-2. Since the Wizard has the lowest CS of the classes I wanted the class to always be able to have a ranged or melee attack available should they want to use it. Good to hear about the magic system. Any other help or questions you need let me know and I'd love to hear about any more sessions you have of Pocket Fantasy RPG. Thanks again!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
