Fantasy Grounds: D&D Curse of Strahd

Fantasy Grounds: D&D Curse of Strahd

EXE File

An adventure for a party of four to six adventurers levels 1 - 10.

Unravel the mysteries of Ravenloft in this dread adventure for the world's greatest roleplaying game

Under raging storm clouds, the vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich stands silhouetted against the ancient walls of Castle Ravenloft. Rumbling thunder pounds the castle spires. The wind’s howling increases as he turns his gaze down toward the village of Barovia. Far below, yet not beyond his keen eyesight, a party of adventurers has just entered his domain. Strahd’s face forms the barest hint of a smile as his dark plan unfolds. He knew they were coming, and he knows why they came — all according to his plan. A lightning flash rips through the darkness, but Strahd is gone. Only the howling of the wind fills the midnight air. The master of Castle Ravenloft is having guests for dinner. And you are invited.

Dungeon Masters purchasing this module can use it to run the adventure with very little prep, other than reading through the adventure in advance. Some additional time should be planned to understand the Tarokka deck mechanics and how they affect the story depending on what is drawn. The random table uses the new Roll to Story mechanic so that your results will be remembered from session to session and easily referenced later.

This Module Includes

  • the entire contents of Curse of Strahd adventure
  • image handouts that can be shared with players collectively or individually
  • maps containing information for the Dungeon Master (DM) only and with all locations pre-linked to story entries which may contain additional DM notes, boxed text, encounters, images and treasure parcels
  • maps with all hidden information removed and resized for use as tactical combat maps. * The maps of the interior of Castle Ravenloft are presented in an isometric format that won't align with a typical top-down map format.
  • tokens for many of the monsters in the module. When no token is available, a letter token is used to represent the NPC
  • XP for encounters that can be dragged to the party sheet and awarded to the players as they complete them
  • Searchable monster indexes by CR, type and in alphabetical order

Why is this an executable?! I was considering buying the MOD!! Some of us are on Mac and Linux, and have no use for a crappy Windoze executable. AT THAT I wanted to import it in to FoundryVTT, I've got no use for Fantasy Grounds, either.

It is not really an exe, but we wanted to indicate that it is not a PDF. There is no category for a product key/registration.

When you buy this, it links it to your Fantasy Grounds account and it will auto-install for Fantasy Grounds into your Fantasy Grounds vault folder. Fantasy Grounds Unity runs on Windows PC, Mac, and Linux. The module is not exportable or useable outside of Fantasy Grounds Unity.

I have purchased this module, and I have an active fantasy grounds sub but this module won't load in fantasy grounds. Any idea why?

Can the files provided in this set be used outside of Fantasy Grounds? Are the individual files provided as jpgs, PDF's and png's for instance or are these files only able to be opened in Fantasy Grounds?

No, these are only usable within Fantasy Grounds.

Will this module work for FGC and FGU, or is it only for FGC? Will there be an additional module for FGU and would we need to repurchase the module?

Quick question, does this contain all modules DDAL04-01 through DDAL04-14? If so, looks great and will buy!

I'm not sure how closely the Adventurers League follows the book adventure, but this is for the Curse of Strahd adventure.

Not at all, two entirely different adventures in the same scenario (ish). For all it's holy reputation, CoS actually sucks due to it's lack of descriptive content, and the Adventure League modules can help flesh it out. That's WHY everybody and their brother publishes 'Fleshing Out CoS' Books. :/

CoS does a pretty good job of staying on an even keel with canon content as well. There are a few things they reverted, and a few things that they pulled out of left field that irritate people.. but generally speaking.. well let's face it, it's the ONLY decent official Ravenloft setting published for 5e so far. TECHNICALLY. The von Richten books do contain some one-shot type areas.

Honestly, I can't even see why anybody would purchase it for FG now anyway. The third party stuff on FoundryVTT for Ravenloft is next-next level. Completely off the charts. WotC screwed up, hardcore.

Sell me the raw content to import in to FoundryVTT and I'll buy it. like I said, I've got ZERO use for...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
