Godbound Art Pack

Thanks to the generosity of the Kickstarter backers for Godbound: A Game of Divine Heroes, I am making freely available all the art from both it and Sixteen Sorrows: A Handbook of Calamities for other uses, both personal and commercial. Other small publishers are welcome and encouraged to use the more than thirty images in this pack to create their own products. I only ask that you retain the credit to the artists named in each file and consider them for your future commissions.

Players of either the deluxe or free versions of Godbound will also find the unkeyed Maxime Plasse-composed map of Arcem in this collection, along with a folder of unkeyed national maps they can personalize for their own campaigns. Other publishers in need of a map are welcome to snaffle them for their own products, simply putting it a new key to match their own world. (Nota bene: if you include a map in your PDF product, it's best to key the map in the layout program rather than putting the key in the image file itself. That way, the key text stays crisp and PDF-rendered even after the image has been compressed for the PDF)

All files are provided in their original .tiff format, suitable for print production. Given that, and given more than a half-dozen full-page illustrations, be advised that this is a very large file download of approximately 700 megabytes.

Just so you know, p1 of the publisher preview seems to be corrupt.

Hi there, I love using these images in my RPG books. (I always fully credit the artist.) Can we use these images on RPG- and gamer-related items as well, such as shirts, dice bags, cards, or GM screens as well? Thanks much.

This in an amazing asset! Thank you.

It does appear that two of the images in the pack are corrupt as they are mostly white with what seems to be most of the colours missing: JoyceMaureira_BEASTSPLASH.tif and TanHoSim_MISBEGOTVIEW.tif.

I've downloaded the pack twice now as I thought it may have been a dl error, but both times the same problem.

This art looks incredible, but I'm having trouble downloading it. I seem to run into errors 100 - 200 MB in. Has anyone else experienced that?

Great art indeed! Just a check: are those images usable also for (small) commercial projects, providing the credits to the author of course ?

Thanks a lot.

Tardy as this reply is, I can confirm that it's _intended_ for use by other commercial products, whether large or small, RPG-specific or otherwise. While I expect small publishers will get the most use out of free art, I want everybody to get the benefit of good free art to support their own commercial ideas, and I hope that they earn some money off it.

Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
