Creature Weekly Volume 6

ZIP File

Octavirate Games presents Creature Weekly, a pack of new monsters available for download each Wednesday. Need new challenges, adversaries and allies? We have you covered. Each entry is illustrated and features variant rules support and genre adjustment information so you can easily fit the creatures into your campaign, whether it is set in the wilds of a medieval empire, the streets of a modern metropolis or the depths of far-flung space.

Volume Six features:

  • The Dhaka. These small (relatively) near-dragons are relatively weak at first, but their natural inclination to uncover more draconic power as they grow older makes them an excellent adversary or ally. Includes a dhaka NPC and information for playing dhaka characters.
  • The Mox, a gigantic, land-walking octopus-like predator with lashing tentacles, a toxic ink cloud and a razor-sharp beak.
  • The Orlin, a player-ready race that represents the genetic equilibrium of the goblinoid races. They are a serious competitor for mankind's position as the dominant species of the planet and their mixed linage gives them advantages other species lack. Includes four new gods.
  • The Thanal, militant keepers of the planar balance of power. They?re true neutral and are out to make sure that no other alignment gets the upper hand in the war for the soul of the cosmos.
  • The Xores, a breed of earth elemental which straddle the line between elemental and living creature. Usable as monsters or as a player race. Includes a write-up for their chief deity.
This 21 page PDF provides you with an average creature entry length of two pages and multiple template examples. It gives you all the variant rules support you need to take the creatures out of the usual fantasy settings and place them in any d20 game you want. Each entry includes variant rules information for easy genre adaptation: Wounds/Vitality, sanity loss, massive damage threshold, defense bonus variant, armor as damage reduction, 3.0/Modern damage reduction, honor taint and allegiances are all supported alongside the standard 3.5 rules set.

Creature Weekly gives you more menace for your monster and the weekly release schedule ensures you will always have something new to challenge your players.

In print-friendly portrait layout.

As far as I am concerned, the unquestioned all-star of this package was the Orlim, a goblinoid that has become so inbred that it's parent races balance their flaws, and hearken back to the noble race that degenerated into orcs/goblins/ogres/etc. I abso [...]

Another chance to think about the usability of each of these monsters in my campaign. Dharka: I really like to concept of certain monsters naturally skipping into some prestige classes. I hope to make Dharka one of my new creatures soon. (I can [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
