ZIP File

In Assault on the Mountains of Madness, Achtung! Cthulhu players will follow in the snowy footsteps of the Pabodie expedition from HP Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness and take part in an epic, full-blooded campaign at the far flung ends of the earth.

There they'll discover the secret history of the final days of World War Two, when the Allies join forces with the Soviets to battle the Third Reich in the most dangerous theatre of war yet... the snowy plains, icy mountains, and subterranean tunnels of Antarctica

Together, these brave soldiers must battle Nazis, occult conspiracies, monstrous foes and ancient horrors, as well as the very land itself. At stake is their own survival, and the very fate of the world itself!

Assault on the Mountains of Madness brings the Secret War to an earth-shattering conclusion, and includes:

  • A terrifying World War Two campaign, fully compatible with the Call of Cthulhu, Sixth Edition and Savage Worlds roleplaying games
  • A SEVEN-Part Adventure taking the investigators from the mid-Atlantic to the centre of Antarctica
  • Become part of a multinational military force transported aboard an experimental aircraft carrier
  • A branching plot structure allowing investigators to participate in all phases and fronts of the assault
  • The rise of a long-vanished civilisation and the unearthing of its greatest mystery
  • New skills and rules for exploration and cold-weather survival
  • New monsters, new horrors, and hideous twists

Assault on the Mountains of Madness is a vast 360 page colour PDF campaign with a writing team led by acclaimed author Jason Durall and featuring Bill Bodden, Alex Bund, Alex Flagg and Paul Fricker. It boasts a wealth of fantastic cover and interior art from some of Modiphius' finest illustrators like Dim Martin, Pierre Droal and Yap Kun Rong.

It's designed to be the climax to the entire Achtung! Cthulhu Secret War campaign and will send investigators on an adventure to one of the most remote places on earth, where they'll face enemies from both this world and aeons past. Achtung! Cthulhu fans are advised not to miss this spectacular conclusion to the Secret War!

Can someone tell me if the keepers guide is necessary in order to play this, or does it contain the necessary information if I already have the Savage Worlds rulebook?

Hi Michael, yes you do need the Keepers Guide as this is just the campaign book. The KG will give you the extra rules you'll need on top of the core Savage Worlds book. Ideally pick up the Investigators and Keepers Guide bundle as then you'll have the extra character creation rules too

I have the physical version of this book and I find it really lacking on editor's part. There is a lot of good ideas and great content, but the text and the sections lack order and consistency. Seems like they opted for a "not so bad" product by rushing it instead of a more professional work.

This book is truly the campaign you have been waiting for, Shadows of Atlantis was a little bit of a let down but AotMoM is a full scale battle for the Antarctic. It may seem a bit pricey but weighing in at 375 pages (Not sure why it shows 248 here) it is a monstrous book that really does pay off in every way.
I have the physical copy and wrote a longer blurb to entice people to purchase this but sadly lost it.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
