V20 The Black Hand: A Guide to the Tal’Mahe’Ra

Selected Option:

We Deal in the Truth.

Every interaction, every fight, every clandestine meeting, it’s all about the truth. The truth hurts. The truth kills. But in the end, the truth protects. The truth shapes the world. Shape the world with us.

The Tal’Mahe’Ra, the Black Hand, plays the long game. They’re fighting a war of millennia, and the stakes could never be higher than they are tonight. They know truths about the Ancients, terrifying truths, dangerous truths, and they know the fight will be long and tireless.

The Black Hand — A Guide to the Tal’Mahe’Ra includes:

  • An updated look at the Tal’Mahe’Ra, which brings the ancient conspiracy into the twenty-first century.
  • Tricks of the Black Hand’s trade, including new Disciplines, Backgrounds, Merits, and eldritch sorceries.
  • Insight into some of the Hand’s sects, including those who hunt the infernal, and the worshipers of Lilith.

Note on the Print Editions: Standard Color uses a different printing process than Premium Color. This usually means the colors are less vivid, but it also means the price drops a bit per page in the production process.

I took this book as a much needed DSBH "Revised" since the version on the storyteller's handbook revised was just a metaplotlot victim , I liked the book but it has several metaplot assumptions like the identity or nature of the capuchin ( something that fans know was hinted in revised edition pretty clearly ) the identity of the del'roh, and others that felt like pulled from nowere or from some chronicle from the new authors. Also it felt like the tal mahe ra was omniscient and infiltrated everything in the workd of darkness ( even de midnight circus?? Really? ). It was also a disappointment the the v20 vitreous parh was not included, it was a great improvement since the revised edition and since nihilistics was introduced in DSBH I think it shoukd have been included by logic ( even if it was printed in v20 rulebook). I enjoyed the book and found it a great and needed update from the cheese DSBH version, if only the included that neceomancy path it should have been a five stars for me

I have to disagree. I wasn't impressed with this book at all, and after reading through it all, I was left wondering why bother. It removes or ignores a good amount of previous material in a way that really comes off as if the book was just someone's personal home chronicle rather than actually going into much about the Sect. Plus, through in a bunch of Baali and Lilith disciples being welcomed into leadership with open arms, just because.

Now I have read both the 1st and latest editions of this book and it's like night and day....two almost completely different animals and the v20 version is a lot better...yep the 1st edition is just cheesy stuff with some interesting nuggets which did not stand the test of time....this new edition much better explains things a lot with excellent twists....I can say this book has a lot of surprises esp. I the secrets of the black hand Enoch is well explained as well as new bloodlines not found in the original....also the vicissitudes aliens while optional is well thought of...nice system on playing them...also the biggest secret..the links of the black hand to infernalism....let's say the book does a good job on making certain infernalism look like world saving good guys.....anyways excellent book highly recommended fresh take on an old cheesy book ....

Is there any additional Disciplines/Paths/Backgrounds/Merits/etc. that weren't in Dirty Secrets?

Yes. There is a new Necromancy Path, a new Necromancy Ritual, a new Thaumaturgy Path, two new Koldunic Paths, a new Bloodline and some New Merits. There is also an updated Necromancy Path and three updated Paths of Enlightenment.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
