The Carnival of the Damned (DCC)

AJOUTER A LA LISTE DE SOUHAITS >
Option choisie:

Adventure Images

A band of villagers are trapped in a mist-shrouded carnival in the dead of night, facing death at every turn. Can they survive twisted oddities like the corpse-filled Tunnel of Love and the dreaded Bone Coaster?

Filled with fantastic art, the Carnival of the Damned unleashes nightmares into any campaign, with encounters refined and polished by the anguished screams of hundreds of players at conventions like Dragon Con and Gary Con!

For judges, the adventure fills many needs: author David Baity has crafted over 30 encounters and dozens of random threats. There is enough content for days of tournament play, or judges can select a smaller collection of favorite dangers for a quick DCC funnel session. For sandbox-style play, judges can extract individual encounters whenever a twisted challenge is needed in any old school system. There's even a haunting backstory for those looking to integrate the adventure into an extended campaign.

And there’s clowns. Lots and lots of clowns.

(In addition to the 143 page digest-sized main book, game aids include a separate letter-sized printable appendix containing all the images from the adventure (making it easy to create handouts for your players), patron spell printouts, and a selection of cool paper miniatures.)

Spoilers - you have been warned. During the last few days I have soloed my way through Carnival of the Damned (150 pages).
It is a funnel adventure for sixteen to twenty 0-level characters (Dungeon Crawl Classics). Instead, I used

A Dungeon Game (48 pages). I used GEMulator (44 pages) to solo this module. For PCs, I used Shea and her friends (all first level, eight PCs total). This was Shea's fourth adventure. The adventure started when the PCs were hired to find missing children (in the middle of the night). The obvious place to find them was the carnival which had been visited by the village families earlier in the day. The first carnival encounter was the Statue of the Mad God. Jack the miller checked it out. He did make his saving throw. The next encounter was The Ball Pit. Jack entered the tent. The PCs could hear his scream and sounds of a monster. Jack was never seen again. The third encounter was The Mistress of Fate. Max the tax collector checked it out. The clue received was - A Bear...See more

It looks like this adventure does not take place in a dungeon, nor contains one, is that correct? I want to set expectations for myself. Thanks.

It’s set in a creepy amusement-style park, so while there are tons of various ‘attractions’, there’s no dungeon per-se.
