Compact Combat is a "supertactical" man-to-man combat board game system. The game was designed to allow detailed, fast and fun combat for any sort of adventurous background -- without breaking your budget or wearing out your calculator.
It can be a head-to-head arena combat board game, or the basis of any small unit action combat scenario. Completely compatible with any PlainLabel Game System product such as Simply Roleplaying! or Budget Battlefield, Compact Combat also can be easily adapted as a combat module for any other RPG. It can even be played solitaire with solo or group play scenarios, for adventure fun without a gamemaster. The game features a basic square grid mapboard for movement, plus weapons and item cards that make determinations of hits and damage simple.
Start with the Compact Combat Core Rules. PlainLabel Genre Expansions bring you additional special rules and materials relating to every sort of adventure setting. Support Packs offer additional weapons, spells, items, beasts, etc. relating to both the Compact Combat and Simply Roleplaying! game systems. World Packs provide complete role playing settings that support both Compact Combat and Simply Roleplaying! And watch for special predesigned combat settings and adventures especially for Compact Combat, many with 3D cardstock components and special rules -- with some playable solitaire.
Best of all, you can create and publish your own expansions, scenarios, etc. for the Compact Combat Core Rules under the FREE PlainLabel Limited Trademark License! That means there will be lots of fan-produced material to play with, as well as commercial expansions, adventures and other material from MicroTactix and other companies.

I understand it is not easy to come with something original in the middle of so many systems but this one did the possible to be original one and brought things I haven't seen before. Well this is the second system I try so I don't have much to compare [...]

Excellent for a combat game, or as a system for a game in which you prefer only to use dice for combat; also integrates just as seamlessly as could be desired with Simply Roleplaying! Great fun. I use it for dungeon crawl games.<br><br>&l [...]

I bought this last night, printed it out, and had a skirmish going tonight with my son and 2 nephews. I haven't seen them so excited about a game ever! They like the skirmish size (they get attached to their characters). The game itself moves qu [...]

I have a thing for the PlainLabel system. Compact Combat is extremely useful because you can socket it neatly into either Budget Battlefield or Simply Roleplaying as a variant combat the former case, when you want a little more detai [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
