One of the dangers of having PCs go into a town for rest an relaxation is that the majority of the time you have no idea what should be there. Many PCs of course just want to go to the latest and greatest tavern for a barfight. But there are those out there that want to go shopping. Those are the ones that will ask the dreaded phrase "Whats on the shelves?"

Does the rattle of gems in the jar get your ears perking; does the clink of coins in the coffer make you start to gleam in the eye? Do you like gold, jewels of all kinds? Do you like to trade and are you fair or foul in your dealings with others? This book is for all those who are mercantile at heart, the third in the City Guide series brings you a look at the wheelers and the dealers of the many cities, those who can make or break a Kingdom with the weight of their fiscal power. Merchants and Shopkeepers, Bankers, Tellers and those who're just plain greedy are rife in this book, are you interested in their secrets?

Coffer of Coins reminds me of the excellent Citybook series put out years ago by Buffalo Games. It details 13 shops that would credibly populate a district of jewelers, lapidaries and metalworkers in a large city with sufficient notes on merchandise an [...]

I liked this one alot. Somethimes it is difficult to come up with a city from scratch, 500 times. Ideas are always useful, especially when they are fleshed out well.<br><br><b>LIKED</b>: Very good use of ideas.<br><br&g [...]

Excellent - there should be more products like this! I've used 80% of the material just fleshing out one merchant district of one city. [...]

A nice supplement for city builders or GMs who need a detailed view of mercantile trades in their setting. I missed some information on tax system, but this may be too much, unless the PCs start a business on their own. [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
