Will you eventually provide an updated version based on the new ruleset? (ie. White Star Galaxy Edition)

I'm not Matt, but I can tell you that Galaxy Edition is compatible with pretty much all previously-written third-party White Star content. This is a very good book. You need it.

Apologies for not catching this when you wrote it. No, I don't really intend to update it as it is 100% compatible with the new edition (AFAIK). Having reviewed both editions, I cannot find anything in the new one that would not work with this as written.

How much "fluff"/setting material is in this book, and how detailed is it? All the reviews I can find focus on the mechanics.

About the same level of "implied" as you find in the White Star Core book

The fluff is there, but subdued. While I made some calls on the nature of the Star Knights, I tried not to take it into deep a direction that would prevent Referees from putting their own spin on things. Also, a lot of the fluff is actually written into the crunch (so for example, in the section on fighting styles I give some background on the various styles which creates some fluff, but nothing a Referee can't ignore if they want to).

I open with a few pages talking about the history of the order (left intentionally vague). After that, besides crunch as fluff, I have several pages on running Star Knight campaigns which touches on different fluff. The Void Knight section has quite a bit of fluff, with the Eclipse Knight being pretty fluff heavy.

Hope that helps.

So how do I send you proof of purchase so I can get a discount on the print version?

Use the 'contact publisher' option on the right side bar, and just email me a screen shot of your order would be the easiest way I can think of (unless you use G+ in which case look me up there and contact me that way).

I'd like to amend my review. The author informed me that he's actually never read d20 Star Wars. The similarities are nice, but coincidental.

Is there going to be a print version soon(ish)?
Customer avatar
Matthew S October 18, 2015 6:55 pm UTC
Yes! Hopefully soon! Anyone who buys the pdf now and then wants to get the print copy will get it at the price for PDF+print if they can show me proof of purchase.

May want to clarify that? Sounds like you'll charge more, rather than less?

I mean I will have a discounted pdf+print price and if you buy the pdf now I will let you get the print at the discounted price.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
