The Redcap

Haunter of battlefields, killer of travellers, the fey that nobody really likes. The Redcap is a magical murderer, an unhinged creature that delights in death and doesn't have to play by the rules that govern reality. If you're looking for a damage-dealer with a fey twist, the Redcap is for you. Here's a taste of some of the stuff you'll get up to:

Every Redcap wears fearsome iron boots, and naturally these come into play as one of your main damage dealing techniques. Remember, a caved-in head makes a great blood-bucket for dipping your cap!

The Redcap is a consumate stabber, as at home with polearms as they are with a pair of cleavers. Once you're after someone, they're probably not going to escape you without some scars to show for it.

Being a Jerk!

Fit into tiny spaces! Push your problems onto others! Turn up where you're least wanted! The Redcap has a host of skills for making people really, really not want to deal with them.

The Redcap is designed for the Dungeon World system, and is probably best suited to players with a fiendish sense of humour.

Hi! I've just read the preview, so just a thought:
1) Everybody hates Redcaps is not a whole move; it seems more like a description.
2) Does the Sneaking preference give +1 FWD or +1 ongoing?

BTW, the Redcap is my all time favourite fae!!

Hey, thanks for the interest! Everybody hates Redcaps is more of a narrative move than anything, almost like how items have tags, the Redcap kind of has the 'scary' tag. It's just to let people who don't know the redcap so well know what they are about. Sneaking preference gives +1 ongoing to rolls made to sneak. The redcap doesn't have too many moves directly related to sneaking so it doesn't work out as being too powerful with the other stuff they can do.

I think in future (or maybe even soon if I can get it done) I'd do both pages of the class in the preview, just with some stuff cut out, because a lot of the more fae & interesting stuff is in the advanced moves, but I can't show them with the preview without giving away basically the entire thing for free. If you like the redcap as a creature though you should love the class, we incorporated a lot of stuff from folklore & other interpretations of the redcap, and it does interesting stuff without just being a thief reskin. Or at least,...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
