Psychedemia • A World of Adventure for Fate Core

For the last few days, I have soloed my way through Psychedemia (54 pages available at DriveThruRPG, pay what you want). This Fate Core System (310 pages, same place and price) setting does not come with an adventure, but it will help give you ideas. I got some more ideas from The Lost Castle of Dreams (DMDave). For the solo engine, I used the Solo Adventure Resource: The Dungeon Oracle (Bimler). I did change all of these documents to craft my adventure. I created four characters. Each one is fifteen years old and there are only a few weeks left in the first year of the Psychic Academy.


One day, at dinner time, a fellow student, Dedra, whispers to the PCs. She tells them that she has discovered something and will share it with them at her room after dinner. Later, they arrive at her room and she explains that there is a way to meditate so that you can reach a human membrane construct (I would compare this to the Star Trek Holodeck, but there are differences). She tells them that she has “built”...See more an adventure there for them. She explains, in detail, how to get there. She says that she will watch over their physical bodies during this session. Her final instructions are get the five masks, free Vance from prison (he is the builder of the vault), and say, “Game over” when you are done with the adventure. The PCs follow her instructions and soon find themselves on Main Street surrounded by buildings. The first thing they see are two barrels. On is filled with staffs and the other with longswords. They each take a longsword.

They continue to go straight which takes them into a one room building. It contains two Disciples which instantly attack the PCs. The PCs kill them and notice now that the face of one of them is odd. They examine the face, notice the mask (Mission Impossible – insert theme song here) and pull it off. The PC Clement puts it on. His face has now changed and his armor class has increased by five. In building two they kill two Guardians. They loot the armor and two PCs put the armor on. They pry off another mask. This one gives the wearer/sword owner paralytic poison on that blade. They move on and discover The Abbey of the Silent Sisters. They are not allowed to enter until they pay the donation fee. The PCs have nothing to give and go to another building. Next, they discover an electronic vault. The PC with the technomancy skill tries to get past the password but fails (stupid dice). In the next building they find a lich. He hits them with a psychic attack and they all take damage. The PCs attack, trying to find its weakness. The psychokinesis laser attack does minimal damage, but a physical melee attack works much better. They kill the lich. They examine the odd mask it is wearing. They pry it off and discover that it is a Biohacker Mask . Also, the wearer’s face looks like a skull and biohacker skills/drugs are acquired.

They move on and the next building is the prison. They talk to the warden, the technomancy skill is used on the warden’s data pad, but the skill check fails (again). They give up on that idea and check out another building. It is the Lich’s home. They gather up the silver pieces that they find there. The next building has a riddle door. They solve the riddle. Behind the door is the Gold Crown. They now go back to the Abby and pay the donation fee with the crown. One of the worshippers inside is wearing a mask. The PCs attempt to “deceive” her with a trade, the silver pieces for the mask. That does not work (another bad dice roll). So, the PCs have three of the five masks. They give up at this point and say, “Game over”. They are now back in Dedra’s room. They thank her for the adventure and plan on coming back over the next night to plan the next adventure.
