Reclaiming the Caves on the Borderlands

Watermarked PDF

It's been a year since those insipid heroes from the Keep had cleared out the caves for their own purposes.  They've now been cleaned up and are home to dozens of miners and their families as a vein of silver was discovered.  Well, it's time to take them back.

Reclaiming the Caves on the Borderlands is an adventure where you play the role of humanoids (orcs, goblins, etc) or traditional races as mercenaries.  You must compete against other humanoid factions in an attempt to reclaim the caves for yourselves.  How you do that is up to you.  Do you ally with another faction?  Do you manage to gain control of the caves before the Keep's forces manage to rally an attacking force?

This adventure is compaitble with the 5th edition of the world's most famous role-playing game.  So shake up your traditional dungeon crawl with something different.  Most of the individual caves are not predetermined for you.  Instead, use the tables as a guide, or just come with your own inhabitants to stock the dungeon which whatever feels best for your interests.

But above all, enjoy!

Author's Note:  This adventure is significantly different than most you're used to, and requires more DM prep.  If you're familar with the old B1 module it's similar to that in that a toolkit is provided, but you stock the dungeons how you want.  Because of this, the price point for this product is also much lower than what you'd typically find.

a back cover for home printing would be cool.

Despite the fact that there is a lot of work involved in fleshing out this module, I like it. Although I was just a tiny bit disappointed that there was not any info on the current condition of the Keep or any mention of some of the side quests found in the original B2 module or of how they may have evolved during the 1-year time lapse, I think that this module is very usable.

I have one request for this product. I would LOVE to have a player's handout map of the caves that only shows the above ground stuff and cave entrances.

One more point to add. I totally get the whole B1 feel to this but I really think you should describe the rooms with some content. Yes leave open the stocking of the dungeon but give us some descriptions.

That's a good idea. I'll work on that and put out an update. you should get an automatic email when I do, so keep an eye out.

Another option would be to have all of the area locations Form Fillable, if that can be done. That way people could write the room descriptions, and add in traps, treasure and inhabitants directly to the PDF.

I wanted to comment briefly on my review. I think creating a whole new character sheet would still be the best option.
Thanks for reading my review and to the publisher, your comments were taken as I believe you meant them.

Change to my review. The character sheet is no longer part of the pdf.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
