  • 30 Units: Subterranean Races: The Cliffhanger Kobolds: In a nutshell, the cliffhanger kobolds live in a huge bat warren and have been made into deranged cannibalistic raiders by generations of constant guano fumes and living on the margins. They are masters of animal husbandry, and believe so fervently in "you are what you eat" that they can slow fall by flapping their arms really, REALLY hard.
  • 60 Units: Subterranean Races: The Wyrmward Kobolds: Raised up by the late black dragon Veskala, the wyrmward kobolds are populous, confident, and technologically advanced. Sneaky tactics have fallen by the wayside here; instead, the wyrmwards are known to patrol their territory confidently and in heavy armor rather than skulk about like more usual kobolds. The power vacuum left by Veskala's death has led to one of the only recorded instances of kobolds dominating dragons, namely her whelps Shisk and Shask.
  • 90 Units: Subterranean Races: Clacker's Kobolds: Clacker (the Hutt) is a walking garden, a super-intelligent, mushroom-ridden crab the size of a pick-up truck, who has carved out a domain at the crossroads of several trade routes. Here, kobold followers gained through trade, coercion, and simple offers of a better life act as his clerks, entertainers, and accountants, while Clacker himself deals with the art of the deal.
  • 120 Units: Subterranean Races: The Earthwarden: The earthwarden are immortal beings, formerly a priest caste, whose very existence is tied to the last remnants of Aggranius, Lord of Facets, the fallen god whose death accidentally created the puddlings. As the last signs of divinity in Aggranius' corpse bleeds away, the earthwarden fall one by one, and now there are no more than a few dozen of these beings left. Desperate to pass their lore on, they have entered into an alliance with the puddlings, but are constantly frustrated with the race's poor attention span.
  • 150 Units: Subterranean Races: The Gardener's Domain: Inspired by glass sculptor Dale Chihuly, the Gardener is the largest stable fragment of Aggranius' personality, and is the fallen god's best chance at reachieving divinity. Embodying the Lord of Facets' drive to create, the Gardener has produced an enormous construction crew of crystalline minions, and now seeks to turn the entire subterrane into a piece of art, a Garden of Reflections. Opposed by nearly all of his neighbors, who want to exploit the land for resources rather than turn it into a museum exhibit, the Gardener is hard-pressed to bring his plans to fruition, and is quickly learning the value of adding sharp bits to his minions.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
