Watermarked PDF

In Harm's Way Tactics is a turn-based tactical combat game set in a science fantasy universe called the Imperium Chronicles. Up to five players choose from six different characters, each representing a class: Assassin, Duelist, Grunt, Medic, Officer, and Psi Mage. Each character class has at least ten abilities (powers) from which the player can pick up to five before each game.

The game includes at least three ways to play, including quick skirmishes, missions, or a campaign. Solo play is also supported.

(Disclaimer: Not affiliated with the In Harm's Way line of RPGs published by Flying Mice Games.)

The IMP System

In Harm's Way Tactics uses the IMP System, designed to reduce the number of die rolls and speed up game play. All other calculations are done by referencing a chart of two opposing attributes (e.g. Accuracy vs. Agility).

I bought this from the Imperium Group website so I can't leave a review in the correct place.

5 Star Game.

This game is fantastic fun. Do yourself a favour and get the tokens and map professionally printed. It was only then that I realised just how good the art is!

This is a rules light, Sci Fi skirmish game that works very well when played solo. This game excels at being fast to learn and fast to play. Crunchy it is not. If you follow this BGG link it will take you to a solo system originally created for 'Song of Blades and Heroes'

It takes very little to adapt this for use with 'In Harms Way'. Now you have a neat A.I. For all your enemies!

Get both the expansions for huge replay-ability. The robot faction is very cool. Gaming heaven!!

How does solitaire work as written in the game?

Hi Michael:

Here's the section specifically talking about solo play:

"A single player, controlling both characters and enemies, is supported. Each faction has a set of standard tactics that a single player can use to guide the behavior of the enemy. Also, encounter tables are also included to randomly determine which enemies appear during a mission."

As an example, here is the section on tactics for the Ougluk faction:

"Members of the Ougluk Faction, especially the Ougluks themselves, specialize in attacking the weak. They will attempt to stun, cause panic, and knock back opponents and then attack them in their weakened state."

There are also encounter tables to give a level of randomness to some skirmishes.

I hope this answers your question!

So, during an encounter I would control them according to their tactics. Nothing automated about their behavior?
Thanks, this does help. Just waiting for Christmas... :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
