Well fiddlesticks. I knew I should have bought the adventures but I never did.

Any notion when Dancing Lights might rerelease them?

There will be a second edition of Starship Tyche released before the end of the year, as well as a Season 1 Sourcebook with all 13 adventures.

I'm curious if the other adventures listed in the back of the pdfs ("Invisible Spirit," "As Morning Shows the Day," etc.) are available anywhere. And for that matter is the print version still available?

Since Asparagus Jumpsuit folded and Starship Tyche was taken over by Dancing Lights Press, there are plans for a 2nd edition that will have a print version, and a Season 1 sourcebook that will have 13 adventures.

We're having technical issues on our end that are making it difficult to upload the file. We're working on it right now. This is on our end, not DriveThruRPG/RPGNow. The Starship Tyche PDF will be available as soon as possible. The worst case scenario is that it will be up on Monday, when we have an alternate internet connection. This is incredibly frustrating and embarassing for us, and we appreciate your patience.

Curious that I got an email just a few minutes ago, saying you're surprised I haven't pre-ordered this, when I already have. Dunno if you sent that out to everyone or what, but that's just wrong.

Don't worry, Terrence, it went out to everyone. There was no way to filter out people that had already ordered. I apologize if it caused any confusion.

This file says it has 23 pages, what is the page count of the final document going to be?

Also, what will make this game more desirable than existing games like Bulldogs!?

It's in layout right now, but the finished will clock in at around 200 page.

I have not read Bulldogs, so I can't really make a comparison. What I think is the key feature is the setting, whcih you can get a feel for in the full-sized preview.

I would like to hazard an answer for Mitch.

The first and obvious difference between this game and Bulldogs is the specifics of the system. Bulldogs is close to Fate Core. I think it came out before the FC rules, but has a common ground Fate system used by Dresden and Spirit of the Century. Tyche is based on the abbreviated Fate Accelerated system. Which is Fate with a lot of "generifications" to make the system a bit more simplified, almost like a Saturday morning cartoon style. I've been curious about how FAE would play out and have been looking for something in this venue like the new Dresden material or something.

The second main difference I see is Bulldogs is a bit more comical. It feels like a "Have Blaster Will Travel" feel. Kind of a world weary, corporate grind humor... wow go to this opera planet and our ship is commondeered for its sound system. You are a traveler in a wacky future where anything might happen just for the surrealness and a quick...See more

Yes, Starship Tyche is intended to be sociological science fiction where ideas are explored and modern day issues can be tackled allegorically. I am not a scientist, but I have tried to stick as closely to actual science as is possible, if only to lend some verisimilitude. Warp drives work according to Alcubierre's theory, the planets alien races come from are actual planets that astronomers think might be able to support life, and so on.

I made the choice to use Fate Accelerated rather than Fate Core because I wanted to be able to attract casual gamers and new players. I love Fate Core and think that it is easy to teach and wonderful to play, but there is a learning curve there. I wanted this to be something people with little or no RPG experience could just pick up and play. The joy of Fate is that more skills and experienced players can do more with it, and it easily ports to Fate Core for those who prefer it.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
