Bought the hard copy, can't leave an official review. I've run this twice now and give it a 4/5. It's overall well-written and interesting. It's a bit stereotypical in many ways, but ironically, such modules are scarce in the 5e scene. So it's nice to have an old-fashioned "investigate the abandoned dwarven mine" adventure.

The reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the final boss fight. Without posting spoilers, the boss has a spell prepared that easily TPKs the level 3 party the module is intended for (and has done so twice in my games, or would have had I not fudged the second time). I strongly suggest either not casting this spell or preparing something different in the boss's highest-level slot.

I bought the hard copy of this module from a game store. I cannot review it here because I haven't bought the PDF through drivethrurpg and the code to redeem my PDF is "expired." Regardless, I will leave a mini-review here.

I read through this entire adventure tonight. It is fairly short. The book is 16 pages with 11 of those being the background + adventure, 1 page of monster stats (there are a few additional monster stats included in the adventure pages), 2 pages of "concluding the adventure," new sub-race, and a new background, then 1 page of maps.

There are a few things that I really like about this adventure. First, it is a mini dungeon crawl. However, not every room has an encounter. In fact, maybe only 1/3 of the rooms have encounters. However, all rooms have descriptions and elements of interest. I tire of crawls where every room has an encounter. Second, I like how the encounters include descriptions of how the creatures will approach the combat....See more

I've had this problem with several of the modules in this series. I always emailed goodman games and they've sent me a code that works.

I had the same problem. I bought the module at a local game store and the code was expired. I e-mailed goodman games with the expired code and they sent a new code to me. As a reviewer above said, it is a good, but short module. I bought this and will probably work it into our Out of the Abyss adventure.

The Updated version as of 10/14 included some typo fixes and nerfed most of the enemies slightly (only -1 to attack and damage for most).

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
